Arwen do you know how to find out who is the brother division for a particular division? Phillip is Div 913 and I wonder who the brother division is. He said in his first letter that 911 was bunking with them, but I wondered if they were ahead of Div 913

My son Michael had to do the same thing with the depth perception test. I had to take him to another eye doctor and he passed it. Yeah, he also said that a lot of the recruits don't pass that test.

Arwen, I am sooooo glad that Chris called, and I take it that you got to take the call and hear his voice for yourself. :-) It also sounds like hearing mom's voice was the best medicine for him, I love that by the end of the call he sounded happy and upbeat. Tell us more as you think of it, I for one love to hear ALL the news (I'm nosy that way :-)

Chris called!

Poor kid was nearly in tears, his first calling card was either lost or somehow ruined, and he lost half of his half-hour time getting a new one. Those first emotionally suffering words scared me, he was so upset, I thought something had gone wrong! He was freaking out, poor kid. One real call in 5 weeks, and he almost missed out on it.

But we got about 15 minutes to talk. When he said goodbye he told me he was the last guy in the phone room. I hope he didn’t get in trouble.

He said he is doing “well” academically and athletically, but that he’s the slowest guy in the division when it comes to getting dressed, etc. They have only lost two members of the division, to some kind of medical issues. They currently have 77 guys (no girls).

His rackmate, whom he says is a “cool guy” has a house on a street (<----- name hint). His other friends include one who should be in law enforcement and one whose name sounds very much like a member of the Greatful Dead.
Div 100 is still ahead of the curve, but 99 is still in trouble, he said.

They knew about the Haitian earthquake but not the California one. Apparently the news was on in the dental offices when a bunch of them went in to have work done. He didn’t say what dental work they did, so it must not have been too awful.

He was very interested in the California quake, since it was so close to home.
Chris lost his Mail PO position because he was an idiot and missed the test required to keep the position.

Div 100 has a collective cold, and his own is the worst/most severe case. I bet every one of them thinks his cold is the worst, LOL.

The end of the call he sounded so upbeat and happy, and hopefully ready to tackle the rest of boot camp with a great attitude.

BTW: Ship6/Div 913 is PIR 2/19. It is on the RTC website.

I just love all the calls and letters coming in. Every day it reminds me of being in the room with my family at Christmas and everyone is opening presents and exclaiming happily. Keep the news coming!!! :-)

Maryaz- Patrick said light duty too. He did say that the dr said that it could be all the rigourous activity they have gone thru. I hope so for both of our guys!

Hi MaryAZ. What division is Drew in?

I'm almost hoping he will be Grad and Go so that we can cancel the trip. As much as I want to see him there, to be there for him, this is starting to be just too much in stress and money. My parents and grandparents already have their tickets, so if Chris is Grad and Go they can at least be there for PIR, then enjoy Chicago after.
Comment by Arwen on January 13, 2010 at 1:55pm
Ticket insurance is only for situations such as medical (with doctor's statement) or death in the family. If you read it, they have some pretty specific rules as to when it can be used. It's actually pretty useless for "normal" travel problems such as a change in dates for an event, etc.

Husband is now saying he won't go if we don't get decent ticket prices. *sigh*
