You guys are really getting to my heart talking about our kiddos talking to someone who loves them......it matches the tone of my sons letter (written 12/19). Haven't had any news from him since, but what you are saying about the phone calls matches how he seemed to feel. Sending loads of love to all our kids..........

Bouncy boats - that should have read bouncy boats. To see what I mean, go here

Harris Beach is nice, especially for the sunsets, but Sporthaven Beach is safer for swimming. It's also fun to go out when the water is rough to watch the Coast Guard "play" (train) in the waves with their bouncy coats.

Which reminds me, we're going out just before midnight to the beach. We have the highest tide of the year, plus a high surf advisory. It should be a spectacular show!

And that is why I live in Coastal Oregon. Not Arizona or even San Diego. Even Colorado was too hot for me (in summer, loved the winters)

At 80s I stop moving and sit in front of a fan or something similar, and don't go outside. At 90 I find the nearest air conditioning (mall, grocery store, whatever) or find a bucket with ice water for my feet.

At 100 I jump in the North Pacific Ocean.

LOL, Twila, that was one of Chris' complaints too. I wonder why no desserts?

Twila, I'm a California girl who HATES hot weather (and I define "hot" as anything over 70) and loves snow and the cold. I can comfortably tolerate shorts down to about 15 degrees.

The human body is a funny thing, what we are comfortable in and where we were raised are sometimes two completely different things.

No letter today. :(

Glad you got a letter Twila! Share as much as you want....it gives us all a sense of whats going on with the guys/gals.

Regarding going ahead with reservations, the Navy Lodge said we could change our reservation just so it was 24 hrs ahead, so I made the reservation for the entire weekend, and will change it if I find that Phillip is Grad n Go

Sometimes you find out about grad and go in the initial letter, at other times you don't know until a day or two before PIR. Go ahead and make the reservations for two nights, then add on if you need to. February in Great Lakes is not a huge busy time in Chicago, LOL.
