Hey Sandra, sorry it has taken me so long to response. It has been busy around here and hoping we have some answers by the end of the month. I can see the lab results just not fully understanding them so we have to wait to see what the doctors say. It looks like iron is a problem and that I have some kind of mutation that is known to cause losses but this is only from what I googled.
No we aren't there yet and should be there in March since he has to report by April 1st from what the detailer has said. I looked at the apts that Nichelle lives in and that would be nice except the walk to/from the laundry room would kill me. We have found some nice ones that we like up by the colleges, so now it is a wait and see game until we move. We know we lose BAS but it is suppose to be supplemented by other things. Do you know what the $300 is listed under because Shawn brought it up at his command and no one knows what it is and says that the only thing that you lose is BAS.
We aren't at a school so it's a little different. We get 3 months of picking. Each month we get about 2 wks to let them know which 5 billets(not places but job slots) that we want and wait for about a wk to hear back if we got any. If you don't get any on your 3rd try they give you orders which is then the needs of the Navy ones. Of course to even pick orders you must have an approved PTS. I agree with Arwen that it is the Navy's way of layoffs. There are people out there who have had them denied 5 times already and are about to be kicked out. But then again most who get a denied PTS just cross-rate like a few people I know.
I should know tomorrow by 11 if we got anything. I told Shawn that if there is nothing decent being put on the table then ask for an IA or 1yr unaccompanied so we could then have what we want later. I will let you all know if we get anything tomorrow!!!
The three choices are called a "dream sheet." It indicates the sailor's preference, but if none of those choices are available, they try to at least do something similar.
Right now the Navy is so overmanned they're having a hard time finding billets for everyone. In the next year the PTS (perform to serve - the Navy's version of layoffs) is expected to send thousands of sailors who want to stay in the Navy back to the civilian world. Only the best will be spared in each paygrade/rating.
Sandra, I'm glad you had a great time! Hopefully this deployment will allow the meds Nichelle is on to work. I know how it is to turn to your animals. Guess it's a good thing they are so loving and forgiving. We have an appt with the fertility clinic on the 26 so hopefully we can get the ball rolling.
No orders yet so heads up for everyone it's a rough process of once again playing the wait and see game. We got denied again so this is our final month to try. Luckily Shawn's command is calling the detailer on Friday to get us orders so we don't end up needs of the Navy. All I have to do is send him to work on Friday with a list of places that I want, will take and no-gos so hopefully this weekend I will have good news. Hope everyone's week is going great!
Colleen, Thanks for sharing the picture! I bet you were happy to be spending some time with Justin while he was home.
Sandra, I know right. I made an appt to make sure everything was okay and all they did was listen to my lungs. I was irritated that I went and by next week I will no longer be seen here on base but at Bethesda instead. Shawn said he would rather drive and spend the time knowing something is happening and hopefully figure this out even if it means moving right after that. At least something good would have came of this place. I also did some searching into my medical record and my blood work has for the last year been hinting at an very low iron deficiency so I guess I will bring that up when I meet my new doc. Hope everyone is doing well since I'm off to do some hw....
I am starting the Blue Candle Project, a video for Blue Star Navy Moms, Wives, Sisters and Girlfriends.
Dads, Brothers, Husbands and Boyfriends are welcome too. If I get enough I'd love to make a separate video for the men who support their sailor women!
What do I need? I need pictures.
1) A picture of you with a lit blue candle, either looking through a window with a blue star flag, or standing on your front porch with a big welcoming smile. Don't forget the candle! If your address is visible, either blot it out, or I will delete it.
1a) Your state. My goal is to get one representative from each state. If I get more than one from a state, and none from another, I will substitute 2 of one state for a missing state.
2) A picture of your sailor on his or her ship, at sea if possible. No nametapes visible, or I will blot out the name.
3) reunion pictures of you and your sailor, preferably on the docks, in uniform.
Your name, if you want credit for your photo. If you don't want your name associated, then let me know.
This video will be released on this website, and on YouTube.
Please send them to me at LadyArwyn@yahoo.com.
Thank you
