MsBev: yes, this is not bootcamp for sure now. They are having some fun now! They'll get the room straight once they realize what the inspectors are looking for. They still need our encouragement in everything, right? Probably always will... After all, we're moms! That's what we do! Don't worry...he'll pass....it's going to happen!

MsBev: How is he doing with the personal inspections while they are lined up? My son told me that they are inspected there too. So far, he and his roommate have passed all, but the "surprise" inspections can provide for some tense moments!

Jenny, Hannah's mom: My son doesn't know where he is going yet. He actually graduated 02/05/2010 so is a week behind your daughter. So maybe he'll find out next week? by the way, my nephew lives in Seattle (almost 4 yrs now) and loves it. I think the Naval base is not far from Seattle. I know she will be on a ship, but may find it a fun place to live when she returns.

Jenny Sailor Hannah's Mom: Is your daughter in MS? That's where my son is too.
So it looks like they get their orders 3 weeks before they graduate, unless everyone is different. I guess we shall see! So glad that your daughter is so excited. What a great experience she will have. Congrats to her...and to you!

Thanks, Laurie. I have read that there are deposits made/withdrawals made that can be confusing! LIke the food allowance that is "put in" and then taken out as they use it. One friend's son thought he was paying for his food because he didn't understand this. Thanks for the info...my son obviously needs to get on MyPay when he has time outside of classes.

My son was paid about 3 times during boot camp, and then about 2 weeks ago he received a different amount, I think a retroactive differential - E1 pay during boot and the difference between E1 and E3 retroactive to November 23rd in a lump sum. Did that make sense? All the pay stubs, etc. are at MYPAY.

Does anyone know if our sailors had pay deposited while they were in bootcamp during 2009? My son understood that there would be no money put in until January (retroactive), but I'm not sure he is right. He received no W-2 form, but someone posted that the Navy personnel have to download their forms on their own. Since our guys started bootcamp at the same time, I figured we are in the same position. His acct is now with the Navy so I have no way of seeing if there was money put in during December. Thanks for any info!
