Cinder: I am not sure but I doubt they all are leaving together. He is going to be in A school for the next 4-5 months.

When do we find it if they are on charter or regular flights and when they will leave for A school?

Merry:  If he is not on a charter flight, you can spend time with your new sailor at the airport.  You can meet up with the sailors at the USO and then hopefully get a military gate pass to wait with them at the gate. He can receive his cell, laptop, and some civilian clothes (to be worn when he is phased up in A School) in a black backpack at the airport too.  Ones on charter flights cannot meet up with you at the airport.

No, mae:  The only letters that they are opened in front of the RDCs are ones that are very fat (like something else is in there)....or packages, which they really aren't allowed to have.  Normal-sized envelopes will not be opened in front of the RDC.  Mail should not draw attention to your recruit...so better to send several letters than one thick one. No colored envelopes and we even caution about cards being sent...no singing ones for sure!
