netlas:  I see that NavyMaMa said her SR is GradNGo and is in 109 also.  Usually the lower numbered divisions are GradNGo...so it is possible that 109 is.  It is the lowest numbered division in this PIR group.

...oh, and my son told me he was GradNGo about 3 weeks before PIR. Sometimes they know earlier than that.

netlas:  When we refer to GradNGo on this site, we mean Fri or Sat departures.  Others may stay until Tues or Wed, sometimes longer, before heading to A School.  They would remain on RTC.  GradNGos staying in GL for A School move over there right after PIR--sometimes they get overnight liberty with their families.

He will know if he is GradNGo eventually.  He will be the one to tell you.  Is he going to Meridian?  That is where my son went last Feb, and he was GradNGo--left on Sat. morning--- but that doesn't mean that your SR will.  It all changes all of the time!

It doesnt exactly mean he'll be a gradNgo. There are gradNgo's that stay til Sat as well, it just depends. The further into BC, the more we'll find out. I read somewhere that people in GL for A school sometimes go pack stuff up and go to A school, unpack, and then they get Liberty. So we really have no of telling til we get coser to PIR. Some people do leave 10 minutes after bootcamp though, and we ARE able to go visit with them at the USO til they have to go through gates.

NavyMaMa:  How does he already know he is GradNGo?  Have they already told him that at bc?  Remember, if he is GradNGo, you hopefully will be able to spend time with him at the airport while waiting for his flight. You meet up with the sailors at the USO and may even be able to wait at the gate with your sailor if you can get a military gate pass from the airlines.

The form letter usually arrives about 10 days after they leave for bootcamp. It can be a little less or a few days longer. It all depends on how long it takes to get them processed. The form letter is usually filled out on processing day 2 and then taken to the mail area to be sent.

Comment by NavyMaMa23 on February 1, 2011 at 12:17am

Hi, My son is on ship 07 div 109. We thought he was going to be graduating on 3/18 but my DIL got the form letter and he will be graduating 3/25. A week later, and a week longer to wait to see him and then he's a Grad and Go so we're not going to get to see him for very long......but it's better than not seeing him at all. I look forward to getting to know all of you since we're all in the same boat...lol

How long after they arrive RTC should we receive our form letter? There seems to be a lot of different time frames!
