SSMom, you might also want to consider flying into Milwaukee.  It's only about 45 minutes from GL.  We flew there for my son's PIR and it was less expensive.

Southwest also flies to Milwaukee and they are usually cheaper.

SSMom- Honestly, I'd say it's up to you as long as you're ok driving the extra 45 minutes. Are you renting a car? Since you're coming from CA, I assume you're planning on arriving Thursday so I think you should be find. Save $$ where you can! :)

I'll also be flying into Midway since we only fly Southwest and have lots of ticket vouchers to use up.

Does anyone know enough about the Chicago area to tell me if it would be okay to fly into Midway instead of O'hare? We will be coming from CA and the tickets are very expensive.  Midway is half the price of O'hare. I know I can't book the tickets now. Just looking for info.

Hey everyone! I started a group for Navy Wives to discuss all the benefits and discounts we can take advantage of as a 'dependant'. Please join! Especially the veteran Moms who have also been wives. We'd love to hear what all we can be taking advantage of. Share your personal insight as well as anything you read/see!

Does anyone know what they mean by skip a week?  Does it mean the PIR date could be pushed back a week or moved up a week?

Thanks for all the tips Jessica. Also on Craig's presentation, Understanding Processing there is a list of how to write each address based on their specific division and ship. All the info's out there, just ask questions and we'll try to provide an answer!

scottaipdx:  Are you a member of Navy for Dads too?  If so, please take info from here back to them!  We get some dads on many of our PIR sites...for the same reason you are here!  :-)  Welcome!

Hi, Betsy!  So great to see you here!

My son PIR'd in December and I will be around if you need help also.
Comment by scottajpdx on January 28, 2011 at 11:38pm
Not a sailor mom, but a sailor dad - like the info on this site.  Our son left for basic on 24 Jan and we don't know if he will be PIR 03-18 or 03-25, so we are tagging along with both.
