For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

No phone call here, either. Which is driving me nuts since I still don't know if my SR is grad-and-go or Saturday departure or what. He really needs to answer questions!
I didn't know that I could send a message to everyone in the group -- I did so, because the curiosity, it burns. I'm as bad as a cat. Maybe worse.
Two weeks!!!!!!!! Anyone else think they're going to be up all night on the 24th with excitement?

That's good you got your letters:) And my sr won't answer my questionaires either...Lol. Only way to find out is message people with the last name to see! That's what Amy and I did to see if they knew each other and they do!

I got 4 letters today, written over a week and a bit, all postmarked on the same day. I think that he was hoarding them and then sent them all together!
I'm dying to know if the friend he's talking about is the son of someone here or not! He's clearly made at least one good friend. :)
And he STILL didn't answer the questionnaires I sent to him!!!!!! After I hug the stuffing out of him at PIR, I may thwap him with the questionnaires. Harumph.

There is a taxi driver that caters to Navy families. I hear he is wonderful (but in high demand). I recommended him to a mom in my PIR group and she called him right away. He arranged to pick her up at the airport and drive her to her hotel. She was traveling alone and was so grateful, she ended up using him the whole weekend. Also,,as it got closer to PIR she posted on the board here asking if there was anyone else arriving at the airport the same time as her and if so, if they wanted to share the taxi ride and split the cost...and there was!, it worked out for her like that the whole visit. here is his info...he is VERY reasonable and helpful.

navywify: I have messaged JanLee for her info on "Sarge." He is one who coordinates/provides transportation for PIR weekend for families. So watch for her post later! Does anyone no what the cheapest way it would be for me to get around while in gl. i am only 20 and can not get a rental car!! any good ideas??
