For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

They send their seabags and garment bags through checked luggage. They are pretty heavy. And they are also packed pretty full! Keep that in mind if you are thinking that they can SQUEEZE more in there. Might be better to mail them "goodies" after they arrive at schools. They can have a few things in their carryon black backpack if you bring one for them, but the airlines rules would apply on the liquids, etc.

I'm wondering if they check their bags if not we cant send them liquids and stuff....anyone know if they check bags?

They sell airplane zip lock bags at the store. Every time we fly we use those and we never have a problem.

I'm guessing the same rules apply to the bag if its a carry on, no liquids or sharp things. You should call and ask the airline.

That is what I'm concerned about Amy. I don't want shampoo to spill! And what about an electric razor? He asked that I bring one for him to use Friday, but if I keep one in the package, could that be flown? I know not disposables.

Good morning!
As I finish packing my hubby his black backpack I have a quick question for the veteran moms and wives....
Do they have the option of checking this bag? Or am I better off mailing liquid things that aren't allowed like shampoo toothpaste and such?
