Betsy is absolutely right.  Although "never say never" in the Navy, it is usually individuals who are setback.  The RDCs must use everything they have to motivate each SR to do his/her very best...and they know how to do that.

And, yes, you are correct ProudNavyWife.  No promotions past E-3 in BC.

Comment by Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor on February 18, 2011 at 1:20am
ProudNavyWife, usually the RDC's tell the recruits that their graduation will be delayed as a threat.  It is normally an individual who is set back, not an entire division.

What are the reasons for a delayed graduation? Can an entire division be held back if the SR's act up, get hits on inspections, fighting, etc? I've been hearing bad things about Div 110 and am getting worried about my husband's graduation date.

My husband will be promoted to an E-3 after BC since he has a leadership position and went in as an E-2. You can move up a rank by passing the test with the 11 General Orders and Rank recognition but I don't think you can move past E-3 in BC. Does anyone know for sure?
Comment by diannep on February 17, 2011 at 10:05pm
They can get promoted while in BC but not if they went in as an E-3.

Sherri- I didn't know they can get promoted while in BC. My SR said he passed everything so I wonder if he got promoted too. Congratulations on your daughter's achievement. You must be so proud :D

Amy-I'm so happy to hear Div 109 got a flag and you got a phone call!! :D

I got 2 envelopes with bunch of letters today! :D This has to be the best week ever!! When I spoke to my SR on Tuesday, he said they're on 3-1. So this is their third week. He has no idea what is PIR or Grad & Go. LOL I guess they don't really know these stuffs until they're close to graduation day?

As for the question about the bag, I called the Corpsmen school today (I got the # from TCS on FB) and they told me that the checking in luggage can be any color but the backpack or bag he'll be using to go to classes and stuff while in A school should be all black. I was sure that he'll be a Grad & Go since Corpsmen A school is right across the street but they told me it depends on the space they have available. If they don't have space, my SR might have to stay at RTC until he can check in. This means, he might overnight liberty until Sunday if he can check in the same day and if not, he'll have to report back every night before his curfew. I wrote and told my SR all these information so I hope he's better informed now.

That's funny! My SR said he's one of only a few married SRs in his whole division and that he's been the butt of some jokes because of being married.

Navywife23, he's Div 114.

Comment by davysnavywife (Groton CT) on February 17, 2011 at 8:41pm
Yay for you Gwyn what div?
