netlas - same here :(

betsymom- sounds fun! how far is Ramada Inn from the base and how much is it per night? do they provide shuttle service? I didn't book my flight yet so I'm not sure what time I'll get there on Thursday. Thanks for the info!

kbfx-im in nyc, i guess we won't be able to meet up at the airport! did you book your flight yet?

laurau- the RTC website on FB said they don't recommend walking and Navy Lodge do not provide shuttle service either. It kinda sucks! $65 a night is pretty cheap but I found a motel that's a mile away for $50/night with free shuttle service

Missingsailor, there is a Meet & Greet at the Ramada Inn on the Thursday night before PIR.  It's from 6-8p.m. and a lot of Navy4Moms attend.  It's a great way to meet all of the ladies that you have gotten to know on here.  It's free and you don't have to be staying at the Ramada to attend.  If by chance you are staying at the Ramada, you do get 2 free drink coupons  They serve yummy hot appetizers.  We had a blast with our PIR moms/wives/dads.

M

MissingSailor - From what I understand, you shouldn't have any trouble at check-in. When I first called, I was transferred to the main reservation number and at first they tried to tell me that I would have to have someone with a military ID there at check-in. But -- it turns out that she just wasn't aware of the policy at the Great Lakes Navy Lodge regarding graduations -- once she started making the reservation, she saw the notations that said family members of recruits who are graduating can reserve up to 3 rooms and they do not have to have a military ID at check in. (They might ask you to have your recruit stop in after PIR and show an ID, but I've heard that they don't also push that either.)

I believe it's only about 1.5 miles from RTC -- so we're planning to just walk and not deal with the extra check points for parking. (Hopefully the weather will hold out so we will be able to walk .. :-)

laurau-thanks, i'll try calling them to see if i can go ahead and book it w/o navy ID but i wonder if i'll have problem checking in. do you know how far is it from the base?

waynesmom:  On the medical issues, that same question is asked all of the time when they find something in bc that they didn't find before.  Seems crazy...Hoping that the asthma thing doesn't prove true...

Unfortunately, you will have to wait for him to call you to find out anything.  The "wait and see" game...they won't tell you anything if you call up there.
