clay---this isnt going to be a smooth transition, especially with the moms who are in  the middle of all of this, but for the new groups that will be forming in the next month, it will be easier..as they will never have heard of either term before...lol

So its going to be confusing at first while we are switching to new rules/terms..thanks for you help..:))

Just so they know its ok in here we understand what they're talking about but when talking to the Navy they need to ask about Sat. Departures. I just had a light bulb moment when I read that on there I was like maybe thats why our answers are all over the place. lol.. Just trying to help I think we're ALL a bit confused :/

Also according to the fb page the term will be obsolete after April 17th anyway as thats when they're expected to switch all the Corpsmen to San Antonio. There wont be anymore guys staying in GL. If everything goes how the Navy expects.

Dianne--okay...i will edit the article to TRY and clarify that if the SR's use the term G&G, they are actually meaning they are a "Saturday Departure:" correct??

Then i will copy it and keep it for future posting on new PIR groups....

I think I would put GradNGo and Sat Departure in the title of your info. Explanation beneath that.  Just so we don't cause more confusion!
Comment by diannep on March 8, 2011 at 3:08pm
janlee:  That might be a good idea...and then explain that the SRS may say GradNGo when they mean Sat. Departure.
Comment by janlee on March 8, 2011 at 3:06pm
Maybe i will change the titles of the info i posted above about G&G's ...or should i wait?
Comment by diannep on March 8, 2011 at 2:55pm
Yes, we can start using the terms interchangeably on here getting ready for the switch.  It is a very confusing issue.  So... once the RDCs have the "Sat Departure "term down, we are ready for the "changeover!"
Comment by Clay'sGirl (Ship 11 Div 115) on March 8, 2011 at 12:41pm
So according to the RTC fb page they have been working to train all of the RDC's to use the phrase Saturday departures instead of Grad N Go and they site websites who still use the term Grad N Go incorrectly as adding to the confusion. Thats why people get incorrect information when asking the Navy directly for information (at least according to them) should we start explaining to folks that when we use the term Grad N Go its actually what they refer to as Sat. Departures?? I just dont want them getting snippy lol. Also they use the phrase 'kiss and ship' which I adore lol

LeeAnn:  Thank you for posting the link for the man whose son hasn't made his run and missed his PIR.  I was able to connect him with someone who has been through this...so hopefully he will get some good info now.  That was very kind of you to do!
