Hey Kim......There's 24 days & it's 24 degrees in GL this morning:))))

I just thought I'd point that out since we are looking for something to giggle about:))))

Lee Ann:  My son was GradNGo, and although it would have been wonderful to have had more time with him, we were so grateful to have those 9-10 hours with him that we didn't even think about the extra time we could have had.  We missed the time at the airport with him...didn't know we could do that when mine went through.  We were booked leaving out on Sunday just in case....and we spent the time after my sailor left sightseeing.  It was worth flying up from S. Florida just to have that abbreviated time with him!  What determines if they are GradNGo is usually their rate/schooling availability from what I have been told.

I had a similar reaction Leeann when I found out my Sr would be grad n go. Unfortunetly the honest (though not pleasant) truth is the Navy doesnt really care if we havent seen them for two months. If they need them theyll take them and us getting to spend time with them isnt really a top priority :(. My friend imet through another group on here went to GL this past weekend for her bf'sPIR thinking hed be there until Tues and found out Thurs night for the first time hed be leaving Sat morning. She got 10 hrs with him Fri and an hour and a half Sat. At the airport. Im disappointed but im learning that comes with the territory...

I just hope the numbers are not the same on PIR.....0 days and 0 degrees would not make for a fun day:)    Just a thought. Have a nice night Ladies

Lee ann--i know its confusing. This is one of the most confusing topics about BC..

The term "Grad and Go" is used several different ways. I have posted some info above on this subject for you to read. Hopefully it helps. I understand you getting upset over the possibility of not seeing your SR, and getting 'mad' at the Navy (that happened to me several times...lol). It all depends on what rate (job) your Sailor is going for and if the Navy needs him right away. If he is going to Great Lakes Aschool, you will probably see him the weekend. If he is a "saturday departure" you will get to see him  friday AND at the airport on saturday. They say they dont send them out on Fridays anymore, but there have been some cases where they have. Read the above info..:))
