reggie:  Calls are totally random....can be whole divisions that earned them, or individuals who did something special...and can be taken away for discipline. So just be ready at any time!  Also, some will make "info" calls....these are monitored calls with Navy personnel standing there to make sure they get the info needed by the Navy and get off, but it is great to hear their voices.

I know I'm being greedy but when do you think we'll hear from them again...I know Div 115 called last Friday..will they get another call tonight? Just wondering how it works or doesn't work...

I am sorry quiltblue ~ my SR says in her last letter that they will be able to mail out letters on more days so maybe he will draft something because he will have more opportunity to get it in the mail ~ our children are so accustom to technology I believe it has done more harm than good.  It seems daunting to write a letter especially when your whole world has been turned upside down, I pray it will come soon.

Hello everyone, Just a note to remind you all that your time is coming and it is fabulous to finally hear their voice during the " I'm a Sailor" call.

An important tip I found out - My son said sometimes I wrote boring stuff (nice, since all writing has been one sided - ha ha) and that what is really needed is funny, comic relief! The survey finally came yesterday so I guess technically I do have to count that!

We have had 2 SR's that have received mail and are ready for more names if you happen to hear of any.

Have a wonderful day!

quiltblue - I've had 2 calls and 1 no, now 2 letters in 7 weeks. No one should wonder now why I started the SR writing group!

quiltblue--I feel for you about not getting a letter. Has anyone else you know received one (girlfriend, friend, relatives, etc..)? I know that all the boys in my sons division all knew that their moms were getting to know each other on here, so maybe one of the moms in your division can tell HER son to tell YOUR son, that he needs to write his momma...NOW !!!...lol

They dont have any idea how hard this is for us at home. I told my son how sad i was when he left for BC and he was like.."really?"..I hope you receive word soon. try not to let it get you too down.

Good morning everyone, as most of you know my sailor is finished with bootcamp & school. She is at her first duty station in VA. She called me 2 days ago very upset and angry because of some people from a Baptist church who were protesting at a funeral. She said it made her angry because she too is Baptist and the God she knows and loves is a loving and caring God and she believes he would never want people to be so cruel to anyone, especially someone who was burying their child because he was killed in a war and believed it was his duty to protect their rights as Americans. Within minutes of hanging up the phone with her I found this video posted on a friends facebook page and shared it with her and now I am sharing it with you. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. God Bless you all and your soon to be Sailors.

Thanks AZjulie, My Sailor said the encouraging part of it really helped her a lot and she loved the questions and how funny parts of it were. I actually made copies of it and sent them with hers so her friends could fill it out and send it to their families. They all loved it and one mom joined N4M's because when she got the questionnaire along with a letter from her daughter it was the first time she had heard of this group. If you guys will post comments on the Questionnaire discussion it will help bring it to the front page so more people will see it.

soccermom:  Yes, the USS Trayer (BattleStations ship) is Disney-designed and very realistic.  More info on BattleStations is up in the discussions.  For those who wish to see the BattleStations youtube, go to www.youtube.com

In search box, put in "CNN BattleStations 21".  Very interesting!
