Got 2 letters finally today...my first from him and when I got home the phone was ringing and it was him...Yahoo...we talked for about 15/20 minutes...I asked him so many questions...Ship 11 USS Kearsage Division 115.  I feel like I can breathe again.  He is having dental surgery next week.

We got letters and a phone call today!!! My SR is doing great!!! No injuries or illness but he did have his wisdom teeth pulled. He says he is one of the recriut leaders but I don't want to specify on here just in case the RDCs look. He said all mail is so needed and that he just got our first letters this week. He says there is family night on Thursday so I have to change some of our plans. He also said they were told GradnGos don't get to spend much time with their families even if they are staying in Great Lakes which he is. I hope they are just yanking their chain!!! I feel like a flower after a drought. It was so amazing to hear his voice and know he is still the same in all of the important ways.

I hope so too. That would be so hard for the families who think they will get that extra time with them. We only got Friday with our daughter, and we could not see her at the airport because she was on the chartered flight. I wish we could have seen her on Thursday night. That would have been awesome.

Could be.  I have messaged Jessica to see if she has ever heard of that.  Sure hope they aren't "messing' with the SRs about that!
Comment by janlee on February 25, 2011 at 9:07pm
maybe they started something new?

Ok, I have never heard of "Family Night" the night before PIR where sailors see their families?  Unless this is something special for anyone flying out on Friday?  But according to RTC, there are NONE who fly out on Friday (although we have heard differently on here).  But I have never heard in the year I have been on here about sailors and families reunited on Thurs night before PIR.
