quiltblue---thats  a good question. I know that they themselves are not allowed anything and i am assuming that due to the security they probably are not allowed to have you bring them anything. But i will find out if you can at least take his phone.

That is so funny 2Girls4Navy!  I will tell my SR to double up each time he visits us during PIR (unless he is G&G), to restock his briefs to something comfortable. Okay next question about G&G... does he get to take a carry-on bag with him if we bring it to the airport?  I have heard they don't do charter flights anymore, is that true?

Which RTC facebook page are you looking at and finding info from?

If you know that your recruit will be staying in Great Lakes for Aschool...then you can be assured that you will get to see them the whole weekend. My son attends Sub school/Aschool in Groton CT, and he was not a G&G. He informed me in his first 'real' phone call from BC that he was not G&G and told me which day he would be flying out to CT,,,so the best source of info on this subject is your recruit. If they are not sure..you may want to print out the questionare above and send it to them. I know that you would like to know as soon as possible so you can make proper traveling arrangements for PIR. There have been some parents who have thought their recruit was a G&G and only reserved a flight/room for one evening and when they arrived in GL's, they found out otherwise and still had to return home when their they could have visited all weekend (blahhh!)...and vise-versa. Make this one of the first questions you ask your SR when you get your call. And...as always,,,things could change at any time.

Also...be aware that they will have a curfew every evening and they will also be made  to stand watch at some point during your PIR weekend.

Janlee - thanks for the schedule.

2Girls4Navy - thanks for the facebook info.

My daughters (12, 9, & 7)  are constantly asking what their brother is doing now and I can now answer a little more credibly.

Also i should mention...you are NOT able to drive your recruit to the airport if they are G&G..that is why you need the info  they are going to give you on the questionare. You will be allowed to MEET them there and sometimes  it takes hours for the plane to arrive, so you should take advantage of that time.:))
