I can't remember if I have posted this here or not but you can send envelopes that are already addressed and stamped to your recru. You can even make labels to make it easier on you. It really does take them a lot of time just to fill out an envelope when you consider how little time they have to write. Especially if they are writing to more than one person. I did this for my recruit  and she and her close friends were so excited they asked me to make some labels for them too lol. You can always add a little note that says this will give you more time to write me lol :-)

If you all send pics, might want to scan them onto computer paper, like a collage (front and back), and fold like a letter.  Fits better in their small storage area and doesn't draw attention to their mail from RDCs.

NavyJane:  My son is in the same ship 11 /div 116 as your daughter......I was so glad to hear you received a letter today:))))Did she say if they had received mail as of yet?? I got a quick call this past Sunday because my SR needed info for paperwork so I was able to find out that he was still trying to adjust but all in all he sounded pretty good......I was interested to hear that there particular division is a bit small..........Maybe tomorrow or the next day I will receive a letter....I'll keep you posted on what I learn:))))

2girls--YES!! youre right...it does depend on the particular RDC's sometimes. AND i had a boy in there (all male division) so everyones experience will differ a little.;))

I think it is cool we can send pics top our SR's. My daughter did request a puic of our family.

Navyjane....my daughter is also in 11/116. I do hope that she is making friendships that will last forever. I know my son still keeps in touch with his buddies from his BC.

I've been sending my daughter letters since I got her address from the recruiter on Friday.  I take photos of her cat, brother, etc. and print them on white paper and then finish up my letter on the same sheet.  For another letter, I printed out an email she received from a friend that is deployed right now and wrote my letter on the other side.  Keeps the amount of paper small since they don't have much storage space.

They do  have do have to show any photos they receive...AND they should be no bigger than wallet size. I sent my son a pic of his cat and a pic of his baby cousin..but i cut them to the proper size. He did have to show both. They dont want the boys receiving any 'raunchy' or 'racy; photos of their wives/girlfriends..but the recruits LOVE pictures from home. They are very homesick and dont care what the photos are (pets, family members, party's they are missing, etc..)

Yes...every sunday morning..they have five hours of 'holiday' time. Its there own time to write, attend church, listen to music, etc...then afterr several weeks,,,they are given a little time to write during the week. Sometimes they start to write a letter on tuesday and wont be able to finish it until thursday or friday.

Also...you may receive a letter that is postmarked a certain day...then receive another letter a few days later...that will be postmarked the same day as the first. The mail is goofy in there..i dont know what kind of outgoing system they have,,,but it never makes sense..lol

Navyjane--congrats on your letter!!! Sorry to hear she isnt feeling well. They all get sick in there. Some worse than others. They will take care of them. My son had a bad cough and he was trying to hide it from the RDC's...i told him that was fine, but if he gets a fever...he needed to go straight to sick bay because it was nothing to mess with....( it turned out he didnt have to go). They also get a lot of dental work done in there...and they are well looked after.
