Hello everyone, I received a check in the mail yesterday from someone ordering ribbons from me to wear to PIR. There was no other info with the check, no PIR date, recruit name, or div # and no phone number on the check. If you name is LeChell N please send me a message. I don't have an order for you and I need the rest of your info so I can make your ribbons. Thanks

For the pictures, if you are flying there and back you may want to have your recruit mail the pictures. The package is quite large and I don't think most people could fit it in their carry-on luggage.

You can also pay for pictures after PIR in the NEX...but lines could be long....better for your SR to pay, as janlee said, if possible. Then they can either have them mailed to you, or they can present them to you after PIR.

LeeAnn:  We loved Residence Inn.  It is about 4 miles from base, has the PIR shuttle ($3/pp each way---sailor returns free), free hot buffet breakfast each day, full kitchens, separate bedrooms (we had the 2 bedroom/2 bath suite), sleeper sofa in living room, gas fireplace....and it is pet friendly.  About 4 miles from base...near an office park so it is quiet.  Also near the Walmart shopping center where there are restaurants ----the Springhill Suites and Courtyard are there also.  We used the AAA rate....cheaper than the PIR rate when we went a yr ago.

Got my letter today!!!  Soooper Excited!  My son's PIR is 4/1.  I'm really looking forward to April Fools day this year!!  (Ship 11 / Div 118)

moms---about sending checks to your recruits for photos....i sent my son a check (as did other moms) and we were told by our SR's that they will only accept a check if it is from your SR's account. It has to have his/her name on the account. I sent one from my own personal checking and he wasnt able to use it. If you want to pay for the photos...the best thing to do would be to deposit money into there bank account and tell them to use their debit cards.

They can also pay for them themselves out of their account in BC.

Conster:  Your "I'm a Sailor" call can come Mar 25th, 28th, 29th, 30th, or 31st.  Depends on how large this PIR group is (how many divisions)...lately the groups have been finishing either Tues or Wed before Fri PIR.  If you want to learn more about Battlestations, go to http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir2182011

Look up in the discussions up top for the one called 'BattleStations'.  That explains it all.  Then scroll down to 2/18's main board and watch as they are receiving their "I'm a Sailor" calls today!  Still waiting for the last 2 divisions to call in...we aren't positive which ones they will be!
