For those of you worried that your SR will not remember phone numbers, send the numbers in a letter...maybe on a small piece of paper tucked in the letter that they can keep in their wallet (they were allowed to keep their wallets).

nurse---If your sons form letter came with the box. It should have listed somewhere on there  his PIR date. Did he list names of people(4) that he wanted on the attendance list? How about a 'password' for the parking pass?..if all of this info is on there...then so should his PIR date.

Remember moms...sometimes their PIR date changes...so there is no need to rush to make reservations. There are plenty of hotels in the area. I understand some of you may need to know so to take time off of work and rearrange schedules and so forth...but its better to pencil everything in for now, in case some changes are made.

nursemom:  Jessica is trying to determine the divisions in this group now.  Hard to do except by reports from those like you who have division #'s.  Hopefully they will post 4/1's group on the RTC soon.  It will start with Div 115.

Good morning everyone. I hope you had a great weekend and are ready for this week to begin. This group is really starting to grow a lot. Since there are only 16 pages of posts in this group right now it might be a good idea to go back to the beginning and read all the posts from then until now. There is a wealth of information in some of the posts and it may help you a lot. You will also be surprised how much this group has changed and grown since it began just a short time ago.

I am sure this group will probably have an 800 division and if it does it will be div 806 and the 900 division will be 920. Sometimes there is more than one 900 division.

Please keep your form letter in a safe place when it arrives. You will need it later to print the parking pass and it has a lot of great info on it about hotels and other stuff.

Welcome, and if you have any questions ask away. We are happy to help. Feel free to send me a friend request also if you like.

Just got the box at the front door. I was also able to obtain my son's mailing info. He is in Ship 11 Div 123.  How do we know if PIR is 4/1/11 or 4/8/11?  I don't see anything posted on the GL website beyond 3/25/11 for PIR.  Just so happy I can mail out my letters today.  Looking foward to form letter.

Proud---You can call your sons recruiter and he should give you a temporary address with your sons shp/div.#....then when you get the form letter...his actual Address will be on there, but the ship/div on the form will be the same as from his recruiter...that part of the address doesnt change.

My son went in on Dec.1st and his recruiter gave me a temp address for him on Dec. 2nd.

They may also call collect..

If they are learning anything...its how to use a pay phone..lol

They probably never expected to ever use one....or to actually write letters.

Its even more special when opening their letters and seeing there handwriting.

Even if it takes a while to decipher it.:))

Proud---any division starting in the 800's is specia; opps. They have more training than the other divisions.

kaylee- The SR;s are able to open an account at NEX (supply store)..and it is deducted right out of there pay. Most kids get phone cards from there before making calls. Even if you sent him with one..he still probably will get one because the pay phones use alot of the minutes just to connect. If they make several calls at a time (girlfriends and parents) they will need even more minutes. I sent a visa card with my son and he never used it...he just ran an account. Also...not knowing phone numbers is a problem...OR...they forget. It weird how much they forget while in there. The best thing to do is maybe write down the numbers he may want to call (yours...lol) and send them in a letter.

ProudNavyMom,

Yes, you are correct about the 800 division.

I called my SRs recruiter 2 days after ship out and he gave me her ship, division and mailing.  They can log on and look it up in their computer.

One week down...one longggg week down. Does anyone have anyone in Division 800 ship 4?  7 more weeks to go. April 1 cannot get here soon enough. I hope everyone is hanging in there. I can't wait for that first phone call. I typed up all cell phone numbers and home phone numbers, laminated it and put it in my son's wallets. With cellphones these days they don't know numbers anymore! Now it's just the wait time. Enjoy your day everybody and Happy Valentines day!
