soccermom---its going to seem like time is standing still. But once you reach the halway point...it will start to go quickly. Once this group fills up and you start interacting with the other moms,, times starts to move again..haha

The moms in your sons division will be you support. Whenever one (or all) gets a letter/call...you can share info and stories and you can piece so much togther..as if a puzzle, and you will get insight as to what is going on in there with your son.

dianne is SO right when she said that when, and if, you receive a discouraging letter...its probably because he was having a bad day. I got my first call from my son before i received his first letter. He told me he wrote me a letter and that i should be getting it the next day, and to ignore it....lol

He said he was in a bad mood when he wrote it and that he was doing a lot better now.:)) Like anything...they have their ups and downs. There were days when i wanted to drive up there, scale the fence, and see what the problem was...haha...but instead i just waited (and waited),,until one of us moms would get word and it was all good again.:)))

Diannep: Thanks for the insight....I feel better knowing that what he is going through is exactly what it takes to become a Sailor....I appreciate the encouraging words.....I can't wait unitl this part is behind us........:)

soccermom:  Just remember...these first few weeks are the "breakdown" time...they break them down to build them back up into sailors...some need more "breaking down" than others!  :-)  So until about the 4th week of training, it is pretty rough for them...then it gets better.  The pressure is always on to pass everything and become sailors, but they feel more support from the RDCs then and from each other.  The RDCs have to do alot of screaming in the beginning to make headway....but they are there to make sailors...and they do!  Once the SRs have gotten through the entire process and are now sailors.....they usually have great respect for them and understand why it had to be done the way it was.  Also, remember that bc is an emotional rollercoaster and if you do get a discouraging letter, by the time you receive it, your SR is probably in a much better place!

I appreciate the encourgement Janlee.  It's is funny how ..as moms we can know by just a few words what our children are feeling..I wish it could be sooner when they get their mail but I'll keep writing & encouraging him...until the day comes when he can read them.  Also thanks for the suggestions on questionares.  That will be something he can interact with & might have a little fun with as well.  Mom's love details......and we know how hard it is for guys communicate details. lol

soccermom--congratulations on getting your form letter. I know how good it feels to get those three little lines  on the bottom. Funny how you can get a sense of what their mood is just from those sentences...huh?

My son joked about his cat when he wrote his, and i knew that all was good.:))

He should receive your mail in about two more weeks, but just keep writing. That way he will have a lot to open and read and will know you are thinking of him everyday.

I dont know if you printed out any questionares to send him...but my son loved them (i didnt think he would) and even asked me to send more. Its best to send them seperately...that way he wont feel overwhelmed. On days when i couldnt think of things to write about...i sent him one of those. I will drag the links for the questionares and post it above for you or any one else on here who may want them.

Well, today, we received "The Form Letter".......which followed the box within 3 days........I was so excited to see it in the mailbox..........I immediatley opened it & turned to the bottom of the 2nd page to see what my son wrote.........I can tell by the tone that he is doing ok but that he is still trying to adjust.....I hope they can get their mail soon so he can be encouraged by the letters that I have written. Today is day 8 since bc began. I'm an anxious mom right now wishing I knew when he could actually get his mail

JessicaB.......The graduation is 4/01/11..........yeah! Now we know that's PIR.Date....

You all....please pray for Chase's family.  Chase PIRed in Sept 2010.  He had just finished corpsmen school at Great Lakes and was soon to be headed to San Antonio TX for special training because of his high academics in corpsmen school.  He was killed this past Tues in GL...when hit by a train...while out with his buddies...please pray for them too.  What an awful thing to witness...especially of a friend...
