I actually just posted this in the "Bootcamp group" but I think it was a pretty cool deal so I'll repost.. At WalMart you can print your own greeting card around your own picture for only 30 cents!! They have all different kinds (not just holiday ones) so I was going to just let you guys know.. Its something different to send him lol

It's great to see activity in this group.  My son arrived in Great Lakes for bootcamp last Thursday eveing (Feb 3rd) so it's a little early to have received the box &/or the form letter.  I learned from other N4M's to send encouraging letters often  - so I spent all weekend writing & printing current events stuff for my SR.  Thankfully afater getting much needed advice from this forum, I was able to obtain my son's Ship/Div# yesterday which enabled me to find out his mailing address.  Now it's "hurry up & wait"

Also, I understand the PIR date will probably be 4/01/11 so here we are....I look forward to meeting all of you newbies & veterans alike:)))) Welcome

I am so excited that this group is forming. YAY- I don't know why this in particular excites me so much unless it is just seeing the month "April" makes me think of Spring and warmer weather :-) Or maybe it is that one year ago in April my only daughter joined this great Navy. I am here like Diannep and JessicaB to help answer questions. We each have had different experiences and monitor these groups on a daily basis. We are here for you. No questions are ever dumb questions, you have things you want to know and we are here to help you find the answers and some sense of peace. The first 2 to 3 weeks are the hardest not only for your recruits but also for you. I promise it will get better. Welcome to this group :-)

Jessica, looks like you and I are the only ones here so far!  Thanks for starting the group, soccermom!  Also, is there any way that you could add Jessica or myself as administrators of this group?  I only ask because there are times when last names are accidentally put on the posts, or other info that is a NO NO....one mom just posted the password for her PIR group---trying to help another member who did not receive hers, but passwords (used to allow access to the base) are not allowed to be shared, espcially on a public board..  If you can add Jessica or me (or both), then we can intercept these posts and get them off if you are not on the board to do it.  I am a veteran mom as Jessica is....our sons PIRed just a week apart (a yr ago) and my son actually started in her son's PIR group but was asmoed for a week.  Thanks!
