We got a letter!!!  Our SR sounds good.  Seems to be getting used to the Navy way.  Said the time seems to be going quickly because they are so busy.  We are almost there!

There will be people in uniforms that are walking around the parking lot offering to take people inside in wheelchairs that may need assistance. They will take them right in and seat them in the right section.  They realize that some have difficulty walking and it is a service that they provide to those attending PIR.   If you are in a wheelchair they will also wheel you in and you go right to the front of the line and inside once they check you in.  I was in a wheelchair for my son's PIR and they were a big help that day.

You will want to stop writing about 10 days out and they will stop writing at about 10 days out also.  Do not worry as this is normal.  As they get closer to PIR they are very busy with several things.  PIR is around the corner and communication will improve a great deal after PIR.  After PIR the guys will have a different address once they move to where they are going.

I know I've said it before...but I just want to thank all the veteran mother's on this site that give of their time to help support & encourage us "newbies" :)  It makes such a difference in our lives & our SR"s (soon to be Sailor's).  Thank you for your service to help the loved ones of our precious men & women that have volunteered to serve our Country.:))))

Thank you so much, the more I know the less stress we'll have when we get there.

I got choked up just reading about the goosebump moment!  Oh my goodness I need to get a grip!  lol

joannesailorswwow:  Yes, your father can sit on one of the bottom rows of the bleachers (I wouldn't suggest the bottom row...hard to see.) in your division's section.  But please get there very early so that he has his choice of seating.

Some of the divisions may only have one honor guard in front, some may have more.  But your division number will be beside the honor guard so you will know where to sit.  We had 9 divisions in my son's.  His was the the 2nd lowest numbered division, so we sat at the far side of the hall (not on the ends...no one sat there for ours).  We were right in front of the double door which was wonderful!

They sit numerically.  So 115 and 116....you should be right in front of the double doors.  Get those cameras ready for when it rolls up!  It is a goosebump moment!

Thank you janlee...my dad will be with us and he is in his 80's and has a hard time with to many stairs is there accommodations for him...
Comment by janlee on March 16, 2011 at 1:04pm
joanne--they are marked with ropes and signs. You will also see two or three recruits from that division standing in front of each divisions seating area...these are the recruits who are being awarded. They will post the names of these recruits on the Command Centers FB page prior to PIR. There was a mom in my sons PIr division that was awarded, its very exciting for the parents.

When we get to PIR...How will we know where our division is going to be, so we know where to sit?
Comment by janlee on March 16, 2011 at 12:19pm
I would reccommend getting there early also. My PIR group was small, and by the time i arrived...the only seating left was the top balcony (which are still good seats), My division wore yellow scarves, but we had to split up because of the seating, and it kind of deteated the purpose. There were only three of us up there with yellow scarves on..:((
