Ladies---also the Saturday before PIR there is a competition held between all the divisions called the Captains Cup. They compete amongst each other for the title. So in your next letter to your recriut...you might want to give them some support from the home front and let them know you will be rooting for their division. The winners will be posted on the Command Center FB page the day after (no pics, just a notification).

I printed out "Division 061 ROCKS" in huge letters and sent it to mine with his letter. They didnt win the title, the other teams cheated...hahaha!! Just Kidding..

Actually..i dont think there was that much difference in holding it (he demonstrated to usat the hotel over PIR...lol). I think the difference was more in the 'stance' and a little in the hold. He just said it was different than what he was used to. Hopefully...they wont have a need to do it again..:))

My son got his Firearms Merit Badge when he was in Boy Scouts (he is an Eagle Scout), and so this was a big disappointment for him.  Wonder why there is a different way to hold it???? Might have to ask our Scout Leader what the difference is, and encourage them to teach the Navy way for future scouts/sailors! Ha, he is Army, so he won't like that comment!

quiltblue---my son was disappointed in the firing range also. We live in rural PA and he grew up wearing cammo and hunting. He said the live fire weapons rules on holding the weapon were so different from what he is used too. he said it would've been easier if he had never fired a weapon before, then this new way would have been his only way...he was upset. They will still get a ribbon on their uniform for marksman. They will have two ribbons...one for enlisting during time of war, and the other for marksman...

Got two letters today!  He said he really loves getting SASE's saves him so much time.  With having the 0400 to 0600 watch he doesn't get enough sleep and is getting depressed, so then they gave him watch on Sunday so missed getting his holiday routine (no extra rest, no clean clothes, no time to write letters).  "Just did the firing range simulator (on 3/8), was aiming (pun intended) for Expert, probably will get sharpshooter... experts get a medal."  Hahaha. 3/10 letter states that he did not do as well with live fire test as he wanted, qualified with marksman probably.  The end of his letter "I miss having time to write letters about as much as I miss sleep now.  Miss you all too,"  Now my week will go better. ;o)

Still looking for some BattleStations dates:  115+116, 119+120, 806.  Please post on here and in the BattleStations discussion group if you have heard any.  They should be starting PIR week, if not the Thurs a week before PIR.
