For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Lala, glad you informed about thursday. I am east coast. However my daughter did receive a letter from my son yesterday (Dad was quite upset that sis got one before Mom and Dad) Letter was dated 2/19. Anyway. He feels like a pin cushion-butt, upper arm and forearm. Getting teeth pulled (or has gotten them pulled) this week. Said they only got about 5 hours sleep that whole first week. And is Bi**hing about the ironing of his "white brothers" aka dad's underwear! lol they must have one iron all wait in line to iron at night. Gives them a chance to write home while they wait. YEAH! Hoping to get a letter of my own today. Hang in there everyone ...letters are coming.

For anyone with SRs who flew out of Richmond on 2/14, I've posted some pictures from that day on my page. They may still be pending approval, so if you can't see them now, try tomorrow. I tried to upload the video three times, but it kept saying to try later - I'll give it another shot tomorrow. Sorry if I didn't catch your SR - I was rather preoccupied with one specific guy!

It just hit me .... I'm crazy and can't remember dates. My son was taken to Ft. Lee on Sunday, 2/13 and flew out of Richmond on Monday, 2/14, so the call came in the early morning of 2/15. Glad you've got it straight candy-oh!

beverlymcn, my son flew out of Richmond. We were not there. His recruiter took him up. My heart started pounding when I read you might have pictures, but I'm not really sure exactly where in or around richmond they left from. Would they leave from different areas in the same city?
