I got a two page letter today!!My dau also got a letter from her big brother! I am so happy and relieved. He said he is doing well, they feed them 3 square everyday and  he said the food is good.He said he received all the cards and letters I sent and told me to tell everyone at home to write! He said his Div was doing well. I am so happy right now I just want to run outside and yell through the neighborhood :)  Just wanted to share-I bet we all receive letters today or tomorrow!

Just received a 4 page letter from my son today.  The best surprise ever.  Did not expect anything for another week.  I am a happy happy mom.  He is eating good, feeling good, and doing good, I basically know what he ate the whole time he's been there.  I have not had this much info from him since he was in grade school.  They seem to shut us out then but the Navy has brought him back.  Ladies when you receive your letters charish them.  They are tired and miss us.  The letters do them good and us good.  The one thing he stated was that he wanted a lot of letters from his family.  He must not have gotten the half dozen I sent out already.  I hope he will have them soon.

@diannep- thanks! I will be flying out of Portland, OR so Southwest is an option for me!
Comment by diannep on March 2, 2011 at 3:10pm
Laura:  They can be "asmoed" (setback) at any point.  So there is no "safe time" to make reservations.  But if you live in a place where you can fly Southwest, they have no change fee and first 2 pieces of luggage are free, I have been told.  Hope that may work for you!  My son was asmoed when there...after I had reservations so had to change...but the price of the same flights/different dates was cheaper for the new dates, so the $150 change fee (American) was like it was reduced to $89.

I still haven't gotten the form letter either. But I did break down and call the recruiter so I could at least write to my SR.

I see a lot of you have made flight reservations? I am so afraid to have PIR date changed that I haven't made it yet. What is the safest bet to make when making my airline reservation??

I got a letter today!  A real honest to goodness letter!  He says he is the laundry guy for the division - ha ha, he NEVER did laundry at home, it would just pile up!  (Until I couldn't take it any longer!)  He is having dental work done this week - but actually sounds like things aren't too bad  He said they are feeding them well and the thing he misses the most are Cokes!!

dianneep - My mistake; I don't know why I said Marriott.  We're staying at Ramada.  Thanks for your tips.
Comment by diannep on March 2, 2011 at 11:08am
Correction:  Look up Mar. 10th on the calendar to see how the 3/11 group set up their MeetNGreet.  The 3/4 group did it by discussion group on their page.
Comment by diannep on March 2, 2011 at 11:07am
Someone on here may want to go ahead and take charge of the MeetNGreet.  The Ramada does everything for it, but they will need for you to post it so people can RSVP.  They like to have an approximate count from the N4M group.  You can either start a discussion group up top about it, or click on April 14th on the calendar on the right of this page and add the MeetNGreet.  You can click on March 3 to see how theirs is setup on there.
