Bren's Mom (Andrea) OMG my heart was tearing when I read the part where you missed the call, then so elated that he called again, talk about an emotional roller coaster, God Bless you for sharing with us all this special phone call. PS I wonder what he meant about losing several people did he say why by any chance?

First off, thanks to all of you wonderful ladies who gave me those little pep talks along the way...you helped more than you will ever know! Well, I decided to end my pitty party as I waited for the phone to ring so I gave up the vanilla cake (Stacie you would be proud of me) and I headed outdoors to get the long, over due yardwork started....Then it happened, the phone started to ring! I had to run for the phone & by the time I answered all I heard was "click"...then dial tone..NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I tried calling back the payphone number but its for outgoing calls only. Just as I felt the tears start the phone rang again & this time i got it!! He sounded tired & had a chest cold but other than that he said things were moving right along & he really liked it! He said they recently lost several people & today they moved around and were getting a new bunk mate. He said that he will be a grad & go and the Friday of graduation he should be free from noon to 8 pm, then flying out Saturday. He stressed about sending letters from home...He said it makes the difference of having a great day & a not so good day...remember to write everyone!!! I was trying to take in everyword he said & in the back of my mind all I could think was how mature he sounded. As our phone call came to an end (21 minutes) he told me how much he loved me, the rest of the family & how important we are to him....he has grown up. To al parents still waiting for the phone calls...hang tight,it will happen & when it does I will share the
happy dance with you as you all shared with me today!! It's late here so this Mom needs to catch some zzzz's...
Nighty-Nite & God Bless you all,

Andrea

I was shoveling a dump load of soil this evening where we are going to lay a new patio, spent 2 hours checking my daughter's homework and wasn't able to log onto my computer early as I usually do. I am so happy for those of you who received phone calls and mail. Doesn't it make your heart warm.

For those moms who are still waiting...your time is coming and we ALL can't wait to see your post about your calls.

My husband received a letter from Logan today and he actually let me open it and read it to him. As I was reading Logan's words I can actually hear him talking to his dad. The way those two communicate with each is so funny. He said the same words to me in my letter but not as colorful, if you know what I mean. It makes me smile. Our boys are men now and we are just going to have to get used to that.

You all have a great evening and try not to scare off the postman!

Doing the happy mom dance right with you Andrea. I am so excited that you got your call. I cannot wait to hear how Bren is doing. Does this mean you're not going to be making any more of your vanilla cake? :-)

I am so happy for all of you who have gotten letters and phone calls! We got another letter yesterday, written the day after the phone call so he didn't have much to say. I am going to send out a questionaire as soon as I can!!

AuntofJon- I'm sorry for you too.... maybe, maybe tomorrow ???
Comment by Peggy G on March 18, 2010 at 8:58pm
None of us in Div 158 have gotten letters this week. It makes me think that depending on behavior or perhaps they don't want recruits on a schedule for phone home or in the habit of doing anything that connects them to outside world. It is frustrating because letters and/or calls really mean a lot to us moms! I guess that it is to be expected with B.C. Hang in there!

zacsmom88- we haven't had a call either. His last letter said he hadn't "earned" one yet. Still don't know exactly what that means as he didn't elaborate.
Comment by Zacsmom88 on March 18, 2010 at 8:41pm
Sailormom-cathie- I am really feeling sad still. How 'bout you ? I think we are the only two who haven't heard from our sons, outside of the letter......I wonder if that means anything???? I keep my phone glued to me too. His letter yesterday was really uplifting and he sounded great in it, tired but good otherwise. Hmmmm...just don't know what to think at this point.
