@lala what a nice looking Sailor! I cannot wait to see mine--
HE won't be as pretty!!
Tears to my eyes too Sherri :-) My sailor went to Pensacola for A-school. The first time she was allowed off base (in Uniform) she went to Walmart lol. An elderly lady was walking in and my daughter ran up and opened the door for her and waited for her to make her way in. She said "Thank you so much honey." Loran thought she was thanking her for holding the door until she asked if she could give her a hug and told her she really appreciated that she had made such an honorable decision in supporting and protecting our county. As she gave Loran a hug she said "I must say you sure are the prettiest Sailor I have ever seen" It was so sweet. Loran was so moved by her that she called me to tell about it before she even left the store.. Here is a pic of my sailor :-) I love the Dress White uniform the best for sure.
DIV 148 saw a video about 9/11 attacks. My son said it is the one thing that really got to him. A little girl lost her dad in the towers and the video talked about... "this is what you fight for everyday". How proud they ALL must have felt to know how special they are to all Americans.
I see military all the time when I fly and I can't tell you how frequently strangers stop and thank these men and women for their sacrafices. It is really beautiful to see.
Last Veterans day, I flew to DC and I was on the Honor Flight, which is a non for profit that takes veterans to the nations capital. When we arrived there, our plane was hosed down by the fire department and EVERY man and woman (from ground crew to baggage handler) stopped to either salute the plane or held a flag. It was one of the most moving times of my life and how proud I was to be part of a wonderful country. When we exited the plane, there were over 100 people on the jet way and in the gate clapping, cheering, and holding signs. If gives me a great feeling to know these veterans were are able to exprience the honor and respect they deserve! And this too is why our future sailors should be proud!
Have a wonderful day...
Sherri
