janlee:  Just to verify...they can actually have the black backpack on RTC after PIR to carry over to GL base with them?  Or are you talking about them taking this back with them after moving onto A School base and visiting with family, then returning to A School base with the backpack?

I believe SW has a pet fly free, but it has to be a carry on and under a certain weight.  SW has changed alot of things, so I would double check.  You get two carry on's 21" bag and a "personal" item (such as a purse, backpack...)  You can check two bags for free on SW too (under 50 lbs).

Ladies--i have been answering some questions above in the discussion forum about G&G's and "PDA's"..hahaha! if you want to check them out, but i wanted to add here on the main board for everyone to see...If you son/daughter is a grad & go, (staying in GL's) you are allowed to take their cells/laptops/etc...to PIR with you and give them to them but they need to be in a BLACK backpack. If they are a saturday departure (flying out saturday morning after PIR...you can give them their items also, but you have to wait until they are at the airport to do so (also a black backpack). If they are visiting with you the whole weekend at PIR, then you can take them their cells/laptops but they CANNOT take them back to BC with them, they have to remain with you at the hotel, then you take them back home with you and will ship them to them when they get situated at Aschool. They will call you with a mailing address afetr they get situated.

If you want to start looking for black backpacks now, i suggest you do so. My son (and us) both had a hard time finding an all black one at the last minute. He ended up having to find one after he was already in Aschool.

Freebird: Residence Inn is "pet friendly" also!  About 4.5 miles from the base.
