Lets all say a prayer for the boys who are making the news today. These are boys of moms who have been in our shoes and who are putting to use everything they have been trained to do. Lets wish them the best while they are in harm's way...

You're welcome...im sure you will enjoy your time with him no matter how short. Once he is in Aschool---it will be back to normal...:))

He is G&G but will be going to FL. Even though I'm sure it will be really early, I def want to get at the airport to see him off. Thank you so much for the great info!!

You are able to take all of those things with you to Chicago for the hotel (clothes, phone, etc), and he can enjoy them when he is with you after PIR. Remember...they can only wear their civilian clothes while kicking back in the room. They must be in uniform EVERYWHERE they go.

anna---If you are going to spend time with him at the airport...you will be able to take his things there. They are not allowed to take anything back to the base with them after liberty. The Sailors who are G&G and staying in Great Lakes for Aschool are the only ones who are allowed their things.

Aww! That sounds good. At this point, it's just his sister and I going. So, I guess we'll find something to do. Hopefully, all rental cars come with GPS. After grad, can I give him clothes, his phone, computer, etc. so he can take it with him to FL or does he have to ship it all from NC to his a-school in FL?

anna---the most popular place for them to want to visit is the Gurnee Mall. It is a huge shopping mall. They have been cooped up for 2 months and have money in the bank , so it seems like they all want to go there for a day. They have food courts there, and a movie theatre. My son was happy to just walk and talk. He purchased a few things for his GF. It was funny when we walked past the theater...my son didnt recognize any movies that were showing...LOL

lala--thanks...by the time i got done typing...you answered the question..lol I can be long winded sometimes..:))

annamichael--You will be able to leave with him, and he will need to be back for 9:00 curfew, which usually means heading back by 8:00,,(cant be late). You will be able to see him immediately after the PIR ceremony. The ceremony will end with the announcement of "Liberty" (yayyy!), and they give everyone about 15 minutes to find, hug, greet, cry, take pics, etc....LOL and then you can leave with him to go wherever you wish. A lot of the times, they just want to chill out in the hotel room and talk right after BC. They will talk..and talk..and talk..hahaa!. They are not able to do much talking in there, so they have two months of stories inside just waiting to be told..:)) The biggest thing to remember is to NOT BE LATE when going back to the base. They have about a 20 minute walk after you drop them off at the drop-off point to get back and be in their ships at NO LATER than 9:00pm. Even one minute late will cause him (and most likely everyone in the division) to lose all or part of the next days liberty.

Any suggestions of things to do/places to go? From the graduation schedule online, it seems that will finish no later that 11am.
