Janlee: Thank you for your prayers.

Freebird: I hope the best for you so you can give your daughter wonderful news. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I received my call from my son, and it lasted a whole 1 1/2 minutes.  We were talking and the phone went dead.  I did not know if that is how that works or if the connection was lost by accident. It was so nice to hear his voice.

To add to what Diannep said when they say they are departing at 2 am that it what time they are supposed to get on the bus to go to the airport. Most flights don't start until around 6 am and many of them will be even later in the morning. Meet them at the airport if at all possible. You may get an extra hour or two but you could get an extra 3 or 4 hours. Plus you will get to meet some of their friends and see them interact with them. It is definitely worth it. I wish I could have met mine at the airport.

leslieo:   Your sailor will have liberty on Friday until about 8 or 9 pm.  Then plan to meet up with the sailors at the airport in the wee hours of Sat. morning and you will get more time with them.  You can get a gate pass from the airlines (hopefully!) and actually wait at the gate with your sailor.

my daughter is in div 146 and she is a grad and go, bummer. I finally got a letter from her, YAY!
Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on March 16, 2011 at 7:16pm

bn4givn- a whole division can be grad and go and often are. Usually the first couple of divisions in a PIR group will be grad and go with other individual sailors thrown in as well. My daughter was in the performing division and the whole division was Grad and Go (Saturday Departure).

The dress for graduation is pretty much anything you want to wear. Some people will be dressed up very nicely, many in jeans and nice shirts or t-shirts, and some (at least in the summer months) are dressed very skimpy. I think a nice pair of pants and shirt work the best. Remember when choosing what to wear that the seat are bleachers that yo have to climb up and down.

thank you janlee... i told his GF that if he called her again - she better tell him to call his mother... haha... is anyone in for the colored scarf for ship 09 div 139... your right - it will still be cool enought to wear a scarf i think... what is the dress for graduations?
Comment by Pearl Harbor MA on March 16, 2011 at 7:01pm
Can a whole division be grad n go? I thought it depended on where their A school was?
Comment by janlee on March 16, 2011 at 6:55pm

christine--im sorry to hear that...that has to be frustrating. Maybe they will be in a better mood tomorrow. im sure the other recruits are frustrated as well.

Uhhhggggg! I know its hard, especially after not hearing their voices for so long. I will keep my fingers crossed just in case something changes...

Comment by janlee on March 16, 2011 at 6:51pm
lala---haha! I never thought of that. Dont forget too...this is in chicago, right off the lake, so it may still be cold enough. maybe there will be some really fabulous spring scarves coming in this season..lol
Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on March 16, 2011 at 6:47pm

Ijust had a thought; Is it still cold enough the end of April to wear a scarf? If so you better decide quickly and find one in your color. They already clearanced those here in NC and the bikini's are on the racks, lol.
