Tears of joy and sadness in missing them when you read those letters....very normal, Lamarmama!  Congrats on the letters, ladies!

Got my first personal letter also.  I was crying half way through it.  Can't wait for the next! :)

I just got my first personal letter and so happy.  Doing the Happy Dance, but then ended up crying, but that is normal I suppose.

The perks are .....they are in 'charge',, but that also can come with a down side. If the recruits he is in charge of dont do the job up to standards...the petty officer is the one that i comes back on. This teaches the recruits to 'lead', and teaches the others that their mistakes affect others. Its all about team work...right down the line....

My son was petty officer of the 'head' (bathroom), he didnt have to clean it...he just had to make sure it was KEPT clean, or he was held responsible...Needless to say...he was written up a few times...hahaha!! But he learned..quickly!

LOL thats great... Any other perks to being a recruit petty officer? Or is it just a nice job to have during BC?
Comment by janlee on March 10, 2011 at 4:49pm

ggnavy---hahaha...thats good. That means he is in charge of the mail delivery. He will  be loved by ALL...lol !!

They have to train the mailmen in BC (being it is a federal job) and thats another reason why they dont receive our mail we send for a few weeks.

I know that in my sons division...they referred to the mailman as "Santa"...LOL!!!

One more question :) My SR told me that he is a mail petty officer. What exactly does that mean?!

So far...there have been groups started above for divisions 145, 147, and 148  if there are any moms/wives/GF;s looking for those groups.

If you look up and dont see one for your division..either click 'view all' and scroll thru and see if there is one for yours (this front page only shows 4 items at a time) and if there isnt one started yet, feel free to start one...:))) I hope you all connect..
