leslio---Yes, or you can print one for them. You can print as many as you need, it doesnt hurt to print extra to take with you in case you lose it or leave it in the room. We put ours on the dashboard of our car so it can easily be seen when pulling up to the gate and we never moved it the whole trip.

I am wondering if we will be allowed to spent the weekend with our sailor.  The information packet said something about some of them possibly being a grad and go (having to leave immediately following graduation)  How will we know who stays and who goes?

Betty Boo:  My daughter is in Ship 03 Div 146 and I will be attending the graduation.  I will be happy to help out any way I can; taking pics, etc.

BettyBoo:  As PIR gets closer, ask the ladies in your division if one can take a pik of your sailor for you.  The ladies on the PIR groups are wonderful about helping out...like JanLee said below...and would be happy to do that.  Whoever volunteers...you can private message more info about your sailor to that person on here.

odi---yes there is graduation after Aschool. My son is in Groton CT for submarine training school (BESS), and there is graduation from there, as well. So will be attending a lot of them...lol  So if there are any moms/wives with sons going for submarines...be prepared to keep making plans..))

Its hard to miss your childs PIR, but if they are prepared for you to not be there...then they will probably make arrangements to hang with others who/s families couldnt make it. Our PIR was during the worst snow storm in years, and a lot of families were not able to go because of flight cancelations, etc... and they had no way of letting their child know that they werent coming. Us parents who were able to make it, were giving these kids messages from their parents, and letting them use our phones to call home. It was sad, because the SR's had just spoken to their families the day before and they said they would be there. The kids were so disappointed, and needless to say...the parents were heartbroken. We went to Gurnee mall and we saw a lot of sailors (boys and girls) hanging out together (especially at the cell phone kiosks...lol)

I am plotting and planning and afraid to plan, but sounds like that is common! Thanks for having this group up and running again - it REALLY helps. My son is ship 9 division 140.  And Betty - in these times, I would guess many of us cant go. It is heartbreaking, but there will be other events for our sailors that they need us at. Is there a graduation after A school too?

dreamcruise---there is a taxi driver that caters to Navy families. I hear he is wonderful (but in high demand). I recommended him to a mom in my PIR group and she called him right away. He arranged to pick her up at the airport and drive her to her hotel. She was traveling alone and was so grateful, she ended up using him the whole weekend. Also,,as it got closer to PIR she posted on the board here asking if there was anyone else arriving at the airport the same time as her and if so, if they wanted to share the taxi ride and split the cost...and there was!, it worked out for her like that the whole visit. here is his info...he is VERY reasonable and helpful.
