AMEN to that FreeBird.  That gave me chills.  I lost my dad just a few months ago and he was in the Navy. When he learned that his grandson, (my son) was going in, he was so proud.  He will be there in spirit.

Hello Ladies...This is Freebird61 (Carla)...I need to really apologize to you all for not responding and being a part of the group...this has been a very trying time for me with my daughter and myself going through recovery (I AM CANCER CELL FREE) just heard last week...My daughter and me have a lot of history issues...that she seems to not be able to let go of....and unfortunetly I chose to disconnect from her...Please I LOVE MY DAUGHTER VERY MUCH!! but she wants to relive her younger years and I can't give those years back to her...She needs this time to grow spiritual and emotionally for us to have a relationship as mother and daughter and be able to go forward...not backwards in our relationship...My cancer has taught me alot...My children are why I decided to fight so hard to live...I don't want my history to repeat itself with my daughter's as it did with me and my mother... I need to say that I chose to not allow my self to be emotional bashed by her any longer...I thought the Navy would change her attitude towards me but she wrote some very hurtful letters to me...and that is when I chose to close the door for a moment our on relationship until she becomes to realize what her words have done to me..I hope you all don't judge me...I am asking a very big favor of anyone that is going to go to PIR...Unfortunetly not only for the reason above...I financially can not go to the PIR because I have NO INCOME coming in now that I am not Disabled I have had to have donations to just pay my rent this month.....I have been spending the last few weeks trying to summit resumes for me to go back to work...and I'm telling you I am not a 100% well ...But could I ask someone to please try to get to my daughter and tell Her I LOVE HER &HOW PROUD OF HER I AM...and PLEASE get a Picture of her ...so I may see her in her uniform...I would be so appreciative if someone could do this for me...If you can please email me at carladcooper@gmail.com and I will give you a pic of her and maybe someone can snap some shots of her...Thank You...this was very hard for me to open up to a wonderful group of Women...God Bless to all!!

I can't focus on anything, and am so anxious for tomorrow to come to get that phone call. Although my son has been so strong through BC, I am just nervous.  Good Luck to all!  In one week I will have the pleasure of meeting you ladies.

One week from today, I will be leaving on a jet plane to see a certain someone who I have deeply missed, but am so proud to call my son. Go Ship 9, Division 139. Good Luck to all the other ships and divisions.  Hope to stay in touch with those that I have met here as we continue our Navy Mom journey.

MaryJune & Linda...thank you for all your postitive thoughts!! I couldn't sleep last night from worrying and thinking about it so much. But I decided probably at 5a this morning..lol, that whatever God has for my bf and I will be. If it is meant for him to still graduate on 4/22 he will, if not, I will just have to wait a while longer to see him. But I feel in my heart he is going to pass soon and still be able to do PIR on 4/22. He says he has been working really hard on the swimming.

@diannep: Ok good! Because I was running that conversation over and over in my mind and I wish I could have said something more than  "oh" and "ok" I was just in shock and I could just feel like someone else was there and I wasn't supposed to say much. Its nice to know that my assumption and gut feeling were correct. LOL! But I still wish I could have told him I loved him. I know I am, or maybe his mom, will get a call soon saying he passed. He is tough and determined, not much gets him down. And from his letters his biggest motivation is not letting me down. And I know how much he wants to see me and his family so I know he really is trying hard to get it and he will. Thank you so much!!
