Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Dianne, I just get CHILLS reading the comments on PIR 4/15! So this means they did battle stations thursday night/friday daytime and were able to call home last night. So in less than a week we'll be getting that call! CAN'T WAIT. Thank you so much for posting about it!!!

...sorry for using the word "usually" so much below!  :-)  That is because "change" is a part of the Navy...so "usually" means that things can change!

val: Gov shutdown was averted last night...wheewww....now, let's hope that the "progress" in DC continues!  :-)

They usually do not call right after BattleStations (capping ceremony is usually early in the morning). But the calls usually start around 2 pm GL time, but can start a little earlier or later.  We advise all to have phones glued to them that day.  They call in numerical order, usually from lowest numbered division to highest, but sometimes divisions will call simultaneously.  Post when you get your call so others know they are calling!

Thanks Dianne for answering my question about shutdown. Do they call right after Battlestations? If anyone knows anything about ship 03 Div 147 regarding status of any kind will you please post it? My SR doesn't talk a whole lot about tests or anything and it makes me crazy! I am dying to know something! Thanks guys...hope your weekend is great!!!
