I agree with janlee.  I have heard the same thing about the taxi fares there.  Might even be cheaper to rent a car in GL area. We rented from the airport.  But still took PIR shuttle.

Hi aanamichael--lol...not sure, but ive heard that taxis can cost a bundle if you need to use them your whole visit. Here is info on a taxi driver that ive heard is awesome, helpful, and reasonable. I know of  a lot of moms/families have already contacted him and have him reserved already. People who have used him have only good things to say about him...:))

here is a taxi driver that caters to Navy families. I hear he is wonderful (but in high demand). I recommended him to a mom in my PIR group and she called him right away. He arranged to pick her up at the airport and drive her to her hotel. She was traveling alone and was so grateful, she ended up using him the whole weekend. Also,,as it got closer to PIR she posted on the board here asking if there was anyone else arriving at the airport the same time as her and if so, if they wanted to share the taxi ride and split the cost...and there was!, it worked out for her like that the whole visit. here is his info...he is VERY reasonable and helpful.

@annamichael: I have stayed at Hotel Indigo before. The one I stayed in was kinda in Downtown Chicago sort of. It was really nice. The rooms are really cute. And thanks for that link to that backpack!!!

Hi everyone! If you haven't found a black backpack yet, I just found this great one I'm about to order :)

http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/64791?feat=816-CL1&productId=109...

And it's on sale!

Have any of you heard of Hotel Indigo? It's about 16 miles from RTC. It's not my first choice; his sister made the reservations. Since I'm going with his family, I'll just go with the flow. I'm not excited with how far it is from base, and there's no shuttle, so that means I'll probably take a taxi.. Any idea how much that would be??
