CMom, I believe that my son is also in this one!

I have not received any news as of yet (not even the form letter) but am eagerly awaiting.  Is it the US Hopper?

Navywifeandmom - I totally understand - I did get my boy in a box today - my hubby called when I got off work and said it was here - I was real emotional on the way home and he had left it for me to open!!  I took a deep breath and opened it - went thru all his pockets and sure enough he wrote us a little note!!  It said thank you for everything Super Mom - I will make you proud - don't worry about me I will be ok - then he apologized for everything in the past - and he thanked his father for being such a good dad!!  We both cried!!  I cry just thinking about it!!  We went out to dinner and then a little shopping - We got a frame for his enlistment oath that he got the first time he signed and we will put that little note in with it!!  So, be sure to check his pockets!
Navywifeandmom - be sure to send him a big envelope with extra postage already on it so he can send you all the letters he gets from friends and family - then you can put them in the scrapbook too!  I told my son I would send one to him so he could mail them back home and keep them for reminiscing!!  He said that sounded like a great idea!!  I figure he will send a few back at a time so he always has a few to keep and read at night!  Then I will take the ones he sent home with me to PIR and we can laugh about them!!  Just think this is from a generation that doesn't get much snail mail - it is all electronic for them - (instant gratification generation!)  They will think it's sooo cool to get actual mail!!  LOL

What a cool story, I haven't gotten a box yet either, but knowing my son, I won't have a note either.  But he does tend to surprise me!  & the scrapbook idea is awesome.  & CMom, another good idea about the large envelope.  thanks you gals for everything!

PaulaB - I think it is the US Hopper.  You can call his recruiter and find out his address!!  That way you don't have to wait for the letter!!  You should check out the March group - if you want on the calendar in the discussions let me know!!  I won't put anyone on that doesn't want on - but it is fun to "see" when / where everyone is!!  Its a fun group!! Alot of support!  Here is the link:  http://www.navyformoms.com/group/leavinforbootcampinmarch

Paula B - Woo Hoo!!

I cant wait to hear from my son -- I have printed off some of the "form" letters I found on N4M - to send to him = that way he can just fill in the blank or circle an answer - figure I might get more info faster that way!!LOL

You may need to tweak them to fit your SR - and add to them also - but what a great idea!!

Lets all share any news we may get from them as It will help pass the time!!  47 days and counting!

I am a rookie!  What is CTN?  My son left March 1. Have not heard a thing yet.  When and how did you find out Ship and Division?

Welcome aelkins; CTN's perform a variety of duties associated with computer network operations across global networks. About 600 men and women serve worldwide in the CTN rating. Advanced training in computer network operations, develops highly marketable computer network skills. A combination of technical and analytical computer network skills provides the situational awareness required to plan and execute informational operations (IO) actions/counter-actions. Initial training is located in Pensacola, Florida.

What rate (job) is your SR?  be sure to check out the Leaving in March site!

http://www.navyformoms.com/group/leavinforbootcampinmarch there are others that left on the 1st - if you want I will add you to the calendar on that site - there are alot of great people and the best support anyone could want! You should join!!

Morning Ladies, well, got the box on Thursday 3/10.    It is now Saturday, & way too early for the mail as I am in California.  Has ANYONE received the form letter for our guys that left on 3/1   ????

I have noticed that there are others in ship 03 that are graduating sooner, so I'm a bit confused about the ships & divisions.  & are we assuming that our PIR date will be 4/29/11....I just want a sign, something besides "the box" with no note. (but it's all good, my son is probably loving this, & is like "mom who?"    & thats good, he needs to remain focused on being in boot camp & learning how the hopefully next 20 years will be like in his New life.  We don't want him to be distracted with wanting to be here rather than there.  & I know he is excited & determined, & was ready to leave before the holidays last year.  But, being only 19 & the only child, I'm sure he is a bit lonely (but he would never share that)  Anyway, just reaching out to you ladies, you are my lifeline right now.  Hugs!

oneluvdmom- My boyfriend left on 3/1 and I'm far too-Texas- We got his form letter the day you got the box. So the form letter is in the mail on it's way!

Yes PIR is confirmed at 4/29/11

And yes there are others in ship 3 graduating sooner. They house a lot a lot a lot of SR's in the ships. Fits many more than just one or two divisions. So don't go by the ship number to find fellow PIR dates or DIV numbers. I focus mainly on their DIV number to know if we will be in the same PIR with them. I know at least 149,150,151,and 152 will be PIR 4/29/11 (The always have at minimum 4 divisions graduate at a time, the normal is anywhere from 7-12)

My boyfriend is only 19 too, glad to find another mom with a young SR I was feeling left out when lots of ladies said their boys are in their 20's already!

Hope this helps! :)

Thank you so much!  I am so thankful for all of you gals & your information.  As I don't have a lot of time to spend on the computer to see every little thing that is updated (& I had to stop following some groups cause my email filled up with like 500 new mails  LOL    I'm so thankful you take the time to explain these things to me.  I'm trying not to be a "mom" cause I am proud that my son is doing something so noble as to join the armed forces.  I am a marine brat so I understand most of that stuff, but the boot camp & just not knowing is killing me!!

Thanks again  big hugs

oneluvdmom - The division determines the PIR date - but yes I would think that you are in the 4/29 group - The official RTC site says:  Divisions (139–148 & 923) Graduate Friday, April 22, 2011, so I would bet you also will be in  the next group which will be 4/29.  The ship is the building he is in.  It holds a lot of SR's.  I forget but think it may be 2 or 3 floors.  Once you get the official letter it will have it on it.  Keep in mind anything can happen to hold up their PIR date - medical issues, (they all get the "Ricky Crud" at least once, and pink eye too) Not passing something like PT or a test or even battle stations - But plan on the 29th!  Hope this helps!!
