Hi I am new here and was hoping to interact with others. My son left 2/7/11. I still have not spoke to him. I am praying he is ok and adjusting to bootcamp.

Well no letter today or phone call. 38 Days so the countdown continues.
Thank you so much navyrules! for your post this weekend...I needed some reassurance. Saturday was really tuff; but as every day goes by it's one day less I have to wait.
Have a great evening....
Hello all, I haven't been on in a few days. Went to a going away party of my son's best friend last night. He is leaving tomorrow for GL. I received a call yesterday from my son. It was wonderful just to hear him. He is having his wisdom teeth pulled soon and I know he is nervous about that. I am wondering if the letters are being delayed. I have written him many letters and he says he has only recieved just the first ones I sent back around the 10th of Feb. Does anyone know? He says they get mail every day so I don't understand. Have a great evening all.
Otty...poor kid! How in the world did he get to be the unlucky one? Sure hope my son hasn't done anything to cause him extra hardship. Be praying for him and all of their Ship and Division. So glad you were able to speak to him though.
I feel like it's Christmas morning!! No letter yet or long phone call but my SR just called 3 times to get info needed for security, like addresses and phone numbers!! It was so nice to hear his voice.
He did say that he was able to write yesterday, finally, and had received our letters. It all depends on is the group does well.
He has been assigned drum major, leading the musicians, but doesn't march well. He played in orchestra for years so he could sit and not march (because he is uncoordinated with marching) but takes the wrap, getting 'beat up' is their term, for ALL the mistakes made in the group. He is the division leader and says tho it sounds like a prestigious role for leadership, he takes the wrap for everything...everyday. Says it sucks. Got 'beat up' for three hours straight yesterday.
Little heartache.
But, what can ya do?
Also said he is grad and go. Bummer! Has to get on a flight Saturday at 2a.m. to head to CA. to start classes Monday morning. I think that changes our plans. May just send his dad to PIR. . Can't afford three tickets anyway. Would have had to borrow.
Bummed right now. What to do, what to do...
Be safe Kiwi!
Letter - what's a letter? LOL! Ah, my son. Just a smoke signal - that is all I want - is that asking too much? For him, I think yes, it is.
