Hi I am new here and was hoping to interact with others. My son left 2/7/11. I still have not spoke to him. I am praying he is ok and adjusting to bootcamp.

I went to the Navy Recruit Training Command on FB, but how do you get to add a comment?  I didn't see a "Friend" link, like on a regular Face Book site to get to write to someone and become their friend.  How do you do that on the NRTC FB page?  Someone must know because there sure are alot of comments about it.  Some talk about our PIR 4/8/10 date.  Sure would like to know if my SR is going to be Grad and Go as we scheduled our return flight later to have more time with her.  What a bummer if she has to leave Saturday!

We are looking for a recruit that we met at the Swear In @ Meps when we were there with our recruit.  I know his name but I'm not sure which Div he wound up in.  He didn't have a soul there to see him off.  A lot of them didn't.  Sounded like he had a difficult home life.

To Debi(Shi9Div126)  Just to let you know, we have booked our flight on Southwest, which has already built in changeable dates, times, etc. without an extra charge (like some airlines charge).  It is not too early to do this.  I'm sorry to hear that the kids in their Div are messed up.  That is the Div my daughter is in.  I mail her a letter every few days and her boyfriend writes to her, too.  I have not received a letter from her yet.  Next week will be week three.  When we got the initial call, she said she might be able to call again in week three.  I am so going to run to that phone every time it rings and maybe, hopefully, a letter will come this week.

Good job, Ladies!  I knew you would jump to the chance to help!  This SR has over 50 people writing him, according to Kathy.

My older son, who is a reservist told me that when he was in BC there were a couple of kids that didn't get any mail. He wants to write to him also.He also said that the ones that were in his div, just had really messed up home lifes, It just makes me sad to think that, here we are hearts aching from missing our kids, and there are kids  out there that nobody seems to care,,

Has anyone booked their flight yet? I know 39 days, and I haven't recieved a letter or call yet, BUT, we live in NJ and if I book it by tomorrow, I can save $200 on the 4 tickets! I have already booked the hotel  (we are staying at the Navy Lodge)  Just wondering if anyone has booked their flight

It is so great to write to the recruits who are not getting any mail. And they are appreciative and write back, or at least 2 wrote me back. And it meant extra letters from bootcamp lol. It was great for the recruits and awesome for me as well. :-)

Kudos to Kathy's son for bringing it to his mom's attention.  Must be an exceptional young man, learning what it means to be a Sailor and that you are indeed "your brother's keeper."

ntz4laa:  Let's hope so!  I would love to see the smile on his face...in my mind!

I hate to read that there are recruits who have no one to call either.  How sad....maybe all of us N4Ms need to be "foster moms" to these SRs and tell them to call us???  I just feel that every SR needs to know that we love them and support them.

I think the letterless recruit is going to be blown away!  I sent a letter today, too.
