Hi I am new here and was hoping to interact with others. My son left 2/7/11. I still have not spoke to him. I am praying he is ok and adjusting to bootcamp.

Girls...GIRLS...I GOT 2 LETTERS TODAY..and he sent his sister one too. I was worried at first because his dad who lives in another state got one yesterday and I had not but it was well worth the wait. He informed me he got selected as a division leader in a 900 division. He did confirm that they can write every Sunday and they had received their "working uniforms" with their names on them. He ended with "all is well" (sounds so grown up don't it) and write back asap..lol. Thank you for listening. I have been quiet, patiently waiting to hear, and now I can't help myself! :-) I have really enjoyed hearing the stories of other mom's letters, it was very encouraging so I thought I'd share.

So glad to hear the letters are starting to arrive both in GL and at our homes.  It was so good to hear news!  I hope many of you get letters today or tomorrow.  My son says there are about 80 in the 807 division.

Well my sons girlfriend received a letter today.. Go figure.. so I guess mine should be next. She said he asked for more letters.  So I posted his address on his facebook wall and asked all his friends and family to write him.

I haven't booked my flight yet but I am not planning on leaving until Monday after graduation.  I agree ntz4laa, I don't want to take a chance of not being able to spend every free minute with my daughter :)

We booked our flight home on Sunday 6pm. This way we could stay with our SR until after lunch. Every minute will be precious!

We have our reservations on SW, but we were going to fly out early on Sunday.  Is it a good idea to fly out later on Sunday, so that we can have that day to spend a little more time to be with our SR?  The later flight was another $100 each, but it could be worth it.  The recruiter says that they don't have to be back until 5 p.m. on Sunday.  Fri and Saturday night is 9 p.m.  I guess if you don't get that back in time they get in trouble.  So, stay later Sunday or head out early?  Any one have any advise.  We are ship 9 DIV 126.

ICsailorsgirl, my brother is just as bad, I have lived in the same place for 11 years, he has lived with me for about 4 summers, and he doesn't know my address either!  I am hoping he gets (or has received) my letters so he has my address too!

mumziepooh,

You are very lucky you have gotten another call. Unfortuantly, my son's recruiter calls me to get everything sent over to him :(

I am glad your son is doing so well.

Wonderful you got a phone call Mumziepooh and glad your son is doing well. :)

Got to talk to him again - yea!  This is really good since he told me that some of the guys are writing when they are in their racks on Sunday but he is sleeping.  LOLOLOL - I am not one bit surprised!  I know my son!!!!!  He did say he had a couple of half letters done but I don't expect to get much.  That is fine.  He is doing well.  Unfortunately for me - I have all the security stuff finished and he probably won't have an excuse to call me anymore.  Boo for my efficiency.
