For those of you looking for your first letter, we received ours exactly one week after the box came (we're in N.C.)  There was only a small note scribbled at the bottom of the form letter, but my son's handwriting nonetheless!!  Looking for more letters.  He said he'd send more soon, but from what I've read about 900 divisions, he may not have as much time to write :o(.

Me too, Debi!  Our box came on 2/15, but no letter yet.

I hope I get my letter tomorrow, got the "box " on Valentines day! and since there won't be mail on Monday, I really hope that I recieve my letter tomorrow! Were your recruits able to write a note on the confirmation letter? If I remember correctly, when I got my older son's confirmation letter 2 years ago, I think he was able to write a note at the bottom.

I also sent a form letter for him to fill in and one of the questions was how he wound up in div 920.  He does play sax and tuba. Hopefully he will explain in more detail and then I will share with all of ya.

Debi, I bet you'll get your letter tomorrow. It seems they are really starting to arrive frequently now.

JessicaB- I received my confirmation letter today. Ship 2 Div 921 is graduating 4/8/11. :-)

Yes Jessica.  I got the form letter yesterday.  I assumed 4/1 was our PIR but it is now 4/8.  I bet you are right thinking there are others in the 4/1 group that thought the same.  They should be getting their letter now also.

Ok , now I haven't recieved  my letter yet, but does this mean that my son who is shipi 9 div 126 will PIR 4/8? His recruiter said that I can call next week, My son left 2/8

Denise, I've been reading and researching and what I've found were 900 divisions have some extra part in graduation. I've heard them called the Triple Threat Divisions, (music, singing, drill) but I've also heard that jobs such as standing at a doorway, or in the stands (security) or anything extra during the ceremony would land you in a 900 division. Some are volunteers and I've read stories about how someone was asked if they could swim, and just because they said YES, they were chosen for the 900 division. I have no direct experience but that is the conclusion I've come to. :-)

Denise - he must have volunteered for something - like flags or background operations.  I think the 900's are all the parade people.  Not just musicians.

Ragdollrae..Thank you for sharing that. LOL. I'm still chuckling when I think about it. I mean, what are our kids thinking sometimes? I was pleasantly surprised when I opened my letter, went straight to the portion that he wrote, and seen that it started with HEY MOM I LOVE YOU. I half expected..."Dear Mother," lol. Actually, after Denise posted what happened,I was nervous and thought maybe I haven't received my letter because HE SENT IT TO HIS DAD.   :-( Kids..gotta love em!
