Price: They offer various discount programs, since my husband is active duty military we have a room with a king size bed for $40.49 a night.
In March 2011 we stayed @ Springhill Suites by Marriott, Waukegan, IL. 847-688-9800. They had $89.99 @ night for PIR discount rates. It's near the base. They had a great breakfast! They are very nice people!.... the rooms are huge beautiful suites! Very clean! high ceilings They have great beds, down comforters, lots of pillows! They have huge walk-in showers, with additional hand held shower head! (I loved this feature!) The shower is in a room with a huge very well lite mirrow vanity with sink....the potty & another sink is in a seperate room! So, if someone's taking a long shower, the potty is available! They had microwave/small fridge, nice counter with lots of glass shelves above so we had lots of room for snack food stuff. They had a big computer desk w/office type chair. Very nice sitting area with a floor lamp and 2 glass top tables that were moveable ...the area included a sofa with sleeper bed & chair connecting or you can seperate to make L shape sitting group...Huge new TV. Every thing was like new! The rooms have their own thermostat by the front door with vents in the bathrooms so you did not have the humidity to deal with like usual in hotels! ...we were very comfortable! They had a good sized indoor pool & work out weight room. We have in the past preferred Residence Inns, but we had our married daughter & her two year old with us that needed their own bed! and also our future Daughter In Law that needed her own bed! so if we stayed in Residence Inn they only had ONE queen bed in the extra bedroom. So at Springhill Suites we rented two suites with two queen beds for the girls....then we had our own suite for us and room for our Sailor in ours! (he did stay the weekend with us) I like the full furnished kitchens in Residence Inn, but they could not meet our sleeping needs. We did not have time to cook anything anyway! Residence are very nice & may work great for you and your!...but, Springhill Suites worked great for us! My crew said they loved this hotel !!! We would highly recommend it! You would need to call early to make reservations for the PIR Discount! It ends at a certain point & goes back to the full price! We could have canceled by 6pm the same day our Rsv. started, so if there had been a change in date for PIR we could have cancelled! We drove there in a rented Van & we also drove it to PIR, with no problems, it worked very well! You can view this Hotel on Marriott's main website by clicking into Springhill Suites Waukegan! They had all kinds of very helpful links on places to eat/ have fun...etc on that site. This was just the nicest place I've ever stayed!
Hope you find a place to stay that will be perfect for you and yours! luv ya, Hisbelovedlinda
Residence Inn Waukegan is great especially for those with larger groups who need more than one bedroom and a common area/kitchen together.

Close to Walmart shopping center where there are also some restaurants, Courtyard Inn and Springhill Suites. About 4 miles from RTC. PIR shuttle, free hot buffet breakfast, 2bdrm 2bath units and studios, all with full kitchens. Gym room, pool. Quiet office park area. We paid $139/night for a 2bdrm in 2010; I believe the studios are under $100. 3 tvs in the 2 bdrm unit....great for kids! Also, it is PET FRIENDLY so bring your animals to see their new sailor!
