soh@appy -- Your son will soon be able to tell you where and when he's going. If he doesn't know right now, he will before PIR. What is his job? Groton (Connecticut) is submarine-land; those who already know their SRs have submarine contracts know that Groton is in their future.

Does anyone else have an SR on ship12 div157? I have only come across one other mom (Sheri) so far.

soh@ppy-

You should know exactly where your child is going after PIR. you should know what  job he or she is going to be trained for. I don't believe the div has to do with their next step, at least as far as my own son. I know of others in his ship/div going opposite directions.

@jbird - Looking at SC vacation brochures sounds familiar, as I have already been doing the same thing but only directed towards Connecticut.  I don't know much about that part of the country because all our previous vacations were typically "South".  I am exciting about doing something in New York either before or after our visit in Connecticut.  We have only spent one day in New York as a family and we really liked it.  This might give us some additional opportunities.

Cyndi.. why'd your daughter get sent home after 6 weeks?  Was she devestated?

@ aveoamare - I wish I knew more specifics about submarine training, but I know my son is getting his specialized training in Connecticut.  I'm sure I will hear some additional details from my son over the coming weeks.  I'm hoping his bootcamp experience will help some of his "communication" skills.

@jbird - I would not have chosen a submarine career myself, but he never expressed any doubts whatsoever about his choice.  I have watched some videos and military channel shows about submarine life and I could see where it would be interesting and the right choice for my son.  I guess he saw the same thing.  I hope he continues to be happy with his choice.

Hi jbird!

My son is ship 12/div 158, but yes, going to A school in SC.

I've already started getting SC vacation brochures so we can visit him while at school... LOL...

Have a good day yourself!

Defiance Mom,

No problem because we had an event at our church last night. I'm just back on now and it's noon time saturday. wow, good for your son!! So this means he'll be on a sub? And how do you feel about that? It sounds so interesting to me.
