Anyone taking small kids to PIR? My son has not seen his new sister as he left the week before she was born. Just not sure if I need to drag a nanny along to keep her in the room while we are at PIR. Any thoughts?

I feel behind in taking all the great info in with a baby....never thought I would have a baby with one in the navy  lol!

Thank you, Cyndi :)  I did a little more nosing around and found answers to the questions I posted.  Good thing I took notes, I may never find my way back there again, lol

Shari:  I heard the shuttles are great cuz they take you right to the front gates and you get past all the lines of cars.  But I  don't know that firsthand.

I think it's too early to figure all that out.  Cyndi

Hi Everyone,

Received the letter from my son yesterday!  :)  Ship 12 Div 157.  Haven't been to the Chicago area in years and have been looking online at hotels. Looks like Waukegan is closest?  Is it better to take a hotel shuttle to the graduation, or rental car?

I got my form letter today and the box 2 days ago.  He said he was doing good and Tuesday was the longest day of his life!!  And by the end of the day he felt like he'd been there 4 days!  And he KNEW what to expect!  His sister just went through it but got sent home after 6 wks.  She was sending home drawings for him of how to fold his clothes and all.  LOL Of course he's a GUY --- SO he didn't take head!  We'll see how he does now.  We got this form letter in just 2 days, but my daughter's letters took about 7 days at first to get through.  Keep writing and they WILL get them.  Cyndi

Defiance Mom,

Yes, I know. I actually did find another nuke mom who's son is in the same ship/division headed to SC as well. Kind of neat to know. Do you mind sharing what your son will be doing for his job?
