Has anyone thought of making a scrap book out of these things? I'm loving the idea!!

yes, Sohappy&proud.  You can call your recruiter for an address if you want.  Just doublecheck it with the form letter address when it arrives...sometimes they are a bit different (form letter address should be correct one but letters you mail to recruiter's address will get there).  The box never contains an address to write.  That comes in the form letter.

@Soh@ppy&proud! Call your son's recruiter!  I was able to get my son's address from him.  He said it could change, but mail would get to him with the address he had.  Got my box today too.  Same as everyone else, pants rolled up, shirt inside out & his long sleeve shirt had one sleeve in, one out....LOL.  no letter yet, but yes it had his contract too, some other papers & the airline ticket...I'm gonna save it all!

I would definitely call the recruiter! He should have the address by now!!

I got my box too. I don't want to open it. He wrote his name in big black letters across the box, and I'm just staring at it, picturing how he must have felt at that moment, packing up everything he had to send home, commotion and yelling, wondering if he was excited or scared, sad, or happy. All I know is it is the first thing I have seen of my son in a week, other than what he left behind and it is a beautiful sight. :)

debbie:  Form letter comes regular mail.

As far as some boxes being received by mail, interesting!  I wonder if they get it to you as fast as FedEx does?   I know they have competitive services so it makes sense that they would use both.

They usually get to make a call during the 3rd week of training. Depending on how long they are in P days it could be the 3rd or 4th week they are there. There is always a chance they could be on watch when the calls are made but if they are they usually can make up the call. My sailor missed the first call because she was SIQ from having her wisdom teeth removed. but she did get to make the call a couple days later. It was very hard for me to see the others from her div making calls and for me to be the only one who did not get a call that day. I was so worried and so relieved when she finally did get to call. And she was not a happy "camper" she said she couldn't eat but she walk and talk just fine lol, so so mad that she didn't get to call when everyone else did.

So happy that everyone is getting all their boxes, addresses, and letters!

Question:  When will we get a phone call?  Week 3? Or does it vary?

Hi, my turn to chime in.  We received both letter and box by reg mail.  One of the other moms commented on seeing the fedex guy...I was a little surprised.  Ours was USPS all the way and we have a regular street mailing address, no PO Box.  Interesting btw, about how the RDC's look at this site...glad I changed my pic.
