Dear debbie aunt-  Please let your sister know to join the group.   I have not received a box and no letter yet.  I did call my son's recruiter, and he was nice enough to give me my son's address.  So I have written him a little letter tonight, and I will mail it tomorrow.   It just seems too quiet around the house when I come home.  I even miss my son's dirty dishes.  How weird is that!!!  Mary in McKinleyville, CA

Sohappy&proud:  The calls can come at any time, any day.  No rhyme or reason for them.  I missed one from my son once...while in the gym in a class in the morning...he was calling for info....no message left (supervised call).  I panicked until I finally heard from him a few days later.  But just be ready at any time.  Mine called during the week and also sometimes on the weekend days when he was there.  So keep the phone close...even in the bathroom and going to the mailbox!  Some have missed calls then.

@diannep,Thank you.. around what time of day do our children finally get to make a call?
Comment by diannep on March 14, 2011 at 9:04pm
Denise:  12 and under children do not need photo ID...just birth certificate or social security card.  Over 12....yes, photo ID needed for all.

aveomare:  Usually FedEx.  And some DO get the box first....some the letter.  We have no clue why!

Sohappy&Proud:  Stay strong...it is very difficult in the early days of bootcamp.  But that first phone call will warm your heart, as will the first personal letter.  Stay in this group until you get the form letter and know for sure this is it.  These ladies will all help you get through this....mine went through over a year ago...so I know what' it's like.  It gets better...but not for a while....but A School is a totally different ballgame because you are back in contact with them....so just hang in there!  We'll get you through this!  :-)

I got the box today..but no letters yet : (  Seeing the box of clothes is not the best feeling, just really ready to hear some news though.

no box or letter on this end either, keep thinking I hear the door knocking but its just my imagination. oh well, i will be at work for the next 4 nights in a row so that will keep me busy. hope I can sleep during the day without checking the front door too often. so excited to start writing to my boy.

fluteface; You're not alone. We have not received anything from bc yet either. I went to the recruiters office this morning and got my son's ship and division numbers as well as the address to Great Lakes.
