It's not a good idea to post a pic of your Sailor every time you post. See change 4 in OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link). To increase PERSEC, don't include ANYONE in your profile pic.

Also make change 3 (see the words in bold) so that this page is no longer visible to EVERYONE (Anyone) with access to the web. Consider "Just My Friends" since you have chosen to include pics on your My Page. (You can make change 6 to delete the pics.)

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP Code to one that is not easily associated with you or your Sailor.

What is your Sailor's rating (job/specialty) and/or where is he stationed (what vessel, if one)? There may be groups I can direct you to.

Nicksmum, I read your recent post on the Japan site.  Did you see this article?

USS Germantown Holds Change of Command During Brisbane Port Visit
BRISBANE, Australia – Cmdr. Carol McKenzie relieved Cmdr. A. D. Hull as commanding officer during a change of command on board the forward-deployed dock landing ship USS Germantown (LSD 42) while the ship is in Brisbane, Australia during a port visit Aug. 5.

When did your son arrive in Sasebo?  My daughter is on the USS Essex and has been there since April 2009.

Hi Nicksmum,

She is doing alright.  She has an interest in  Medical school after taking the first aid portion of bootcamp so we are getting ready to get her into school.  Also she is looking for a job, but has had no luck yet.

How long has he been home and how did he get a job so quick?  Why was he sent home, if you don't mind my asking?  Don't tell me if you don't want to.  thanks for asking about Suzi.  I personally think she wasn't emotionally ready for bootcamp and living her own life just yet.  She's a little immature for her age.  Her legs are feeling better unless she works out then they hurt a lot again.  Her ingrown toenail is looking much better too.  She may not need any surgery at all!

Thanks for asking!

Cyndi

Nicksmum ~ "crazy ride" is so right! I'm surprisingly more stable after receiving the first letter and first real phone call. This site has already been very helpful...lots of good reading here.

Nicksmum . . . thank you for sharing your son's letter.  You can really start to feel like you know these fine young men through their letters.  It was great of you to share with us all.  Please try not to dwell on the missed call.  At least you know he seems to be doing quite well.

Thank you for friending me and for your understanding. My son (Chris) is my only child. It just doesn't seem "right" that we travel from Washington for his PIR only to see him for a few hours after PIR and then "possibly" on Sat. at the airport. I will cherish every moment we have with him for sure. We will be there no matter what, but it's ironic that when we are still in Chicago he will be flying to California! I guess I should get used to the Navy way of doing things. We are driving from WA via Omaha, NE to pick grandma up! Should be an interesting trip as we are bringing Chris' girlfriend with us! Yes, I'm a little bit crazy! Pray for me please. :)

Is your son leaving for A school on Sat. also? Where is he headed nd what will he be studying? Chris is headed to Port Hummene (sp?) on the Calif. coast as a Seabee and training to be a CM (construction mechanic). I see you are from Temecula, CA. Where is Temecula?  Chris actually enlisted as a Reserve to get his foot in the door and will be stationed in Everett, WA when he's done with A school. At least he will be close to home after A school for awhile.

Again, thanks for your friend request. Are you planning on going to PIR? If so, I'd love to meet you!
