Hi new friends,

My son left on March 7.  He's got a diver contract and is with Ozzy's son.  We live in Washington state although he grew up in Florida.  I'm very anxious to get the phone call and was shocked to have received the box on Thursday and the letter yesterday (Saturday).  I wrote a letter the other day and couldn't believe how tired my hand became.  I can't tell you the last time I "wrote" a letter...email has definitely spoiled me.  Look forward to connecting with all of you..

There is no such thing as a dumb question lol, :-)

A little about me: I have 2 Sailors, My daughter who had PIR in July is an AO in VA. My son-in-law who had PIR in OCT and is an IT in VA. Both are finished with school and at their first duty stations. They have their own apartment and they got engaged right after my daughter got out of bootcamp and they got married while she was in A-school and right before he left for bootcamp. My daughter was in the Performing div and was in the choir. She was a Saturday departure and left on a chartered flight. If you have any questions at all please let me know. My name is Lora but I am fondly known as Lala, the PIR ribbon making queen lol.

Thanks Lala, We appreciate you checking in with with us.  Great to have another veteran mom helping us with all of our questions (as dumb as they are!!).  : )

Hello everyone, I am a veteran mom like Diannep and JessicaB and some others. I am here to help answer any questions you may have about Bootcamp, PIR, A-school, etc. We have all had different experiences and can answer almost any question that comes up. If not we will research and look for the answer for you. The first 2 to 3 weeks are the hardest for you and your recruits as well. It will get better I promise. For now write every day. Like Diannep said, they live for mail call. Welcome to your PIR group.

Jenny:  They never get in trouble for too much mail...and that is the highlight of bootcamp for them, so keep the letters coming!

OIC.. ok... hopefully by the end of next week, you'll have it.  We have already sent out about 10 letters to our daughter. I hope she doesn't get in trouble for ALOT of mail!  she has 5 siblings, grandparents, aunts/uncles, cousins, church friends.. alot of people will be writing her!

Forevermom.. was your son's recruiter not very friendly? We had met our daughters recruiter a couple of times, he gave me his card and told me to call anytime we had questions. I had texted him yesterday about her addy and he called me back with her address... I would think anyone that went out this past week, the recruiter can look up and find the address. I think there is some sort of listing that the recruiters can get on and look.

Hi Girls!  Feeling better today, hope you are, as well.  Everyday goes on without them, doesn't it?  Wierd!

So, I have my sons address, box, Ship 04 and Div 809.  Still waiting for the letter with his PIR date.
