I'm sorry I didn't mean to add any worry for any of you. I was just remembering something else.
I read that letter too Anna, it really helped me as well as Katie.

SWCC: I knew you meant yesterdays post... : ) I was hoping it would make you smile and laugh... : ) Hey we have to find humor wherever we can so we can finish this 8 week race with a few scruples left....

Jill: His letters from home are like to food to his soul and they will keep him nourished and encouraged to see the finish line... The guys in his DIV will not let each other fall now.. They will carry him.. I am going to post a letter from a dad that was in Navy and wrote an incredible letter to use parents of what they endure and experience.. It is an awesome read... Give me 5 mins and I will post it in the diccussion form on this page...

To Jill-Brandon's Mom: If you've read Week by Week at Boot Camp you'll remember that week 2 they are tired and irritable -- that is probs when he wrote the letter -- he should be in a better state of mind by now -- just keep a positive outlook for yourself -- sending him positive messages and perhaps a synopsis of Week-by Week so he can realize he's going to get through this and it is an ever-changing environment -- my prayers are will all our kids today.

Anna - thanks for all your comments and encouraging words -- love the letter -- I will compose something similar to Jerry.

I saw a saying that said "Navy Mom - Toughest Job in the Navy" -- I'm afraid it could be true!

My fingers are crossed for all of you. Please let your letters come today. Cory did say in his he just wanted to quit and come home but he went on to say Mom I'M NOT A QUITER. I'm so very proud of him. I know it is ruff on them but I think it will get better as they can write and call. I spoke with Cory's Recruiter yesterday and he said that by week 5 their letters are not going to say how home sick they are anymore. I hope so. He (Cory's Recruiter) has been pretty much on the spot when I have had questions about anything. My prayers will be with him today as he will be getting his wisdom teeth pulled. OUCH! I do miss being their for him.

Jill: Bless his heart... I will pray for Brandons spirit, mental and physical health... That would be so hard to hear them say they are homesick... He is halfway through, Next week will get better... I have pasted a letter a mother wrote to her son when his dobber was down. I am attaching here for you to send your son.. I think her words are incredible.. I will keep you in my prayers Jill and Brandon.

I hope this week has been a better week for you. I just want to hug you & make it all better. I can’t help but think about what you must be thinking & feeling there.

I bet it is odd thinking you could be standing, at times, in the exact same spot other young men might have stood & gotten yelled at before they went off to make their home on a ship under constant attack.

I couldn't imagine eating at a table where young men, like you, had eaten before, thinking & feeling the same things you are. I just can not fathom sleeping in a bed, in a dorm, where so many young men had slept before you, knowing some had even cried there before falling asleep, missing their moms' and dads', full of their own homesickness.

I think it must be hard to learn to trust someone you've just met to guard your backside, whether at boot camp or on deployment. It must be stressful to learn in such a short amount of time so many new things the RDC’s tell you, you will need to know if something were to go wrong in a dangerous situation.

I imagine it was beyond strange to be looking out over those grounds and buildings where so many, just like you, had gone before. I'm sure you must be awestruck thinking on the sheer number of young men who upon leaving that place found the wisdom, the strength and the courage to do more than the jobs they were assigned.

And finally, I bet it made you proud to go where so many heroes had been before. I am sure, beyond doubt, that if you should ever be called on yourself, to find that same wisdom and strength, your own courage will not fail you. Because you now stand where many will come after you. Because you too, are now a hero. I am so PROUD of you!
