OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hello All! My name is mmiles (aka Michelle) I am now the new ADMIN for the group since LisaB received her letter and her Recruit will be graduating a week earlier! If you have any questions please let me know. Also please remember do not type in the last name of your recruiit any where on thie website....big NO-NO for the Navy!

Remember we are all in the same boat, have many of the same concerns, have many of the same questions, expiriencing the same emotions! Basically we all need the same support! So please use this group to get any support you need! I hope you will all be able to attend PIR so we can then finally meet in person as well!! THANKS!!!

Be sure to go to the events page and RSVP for the Meet & Greet Thursday night before graduation! This is a free event even if your not staying at that hotel.

Who has received a "I'm a Sailor" call: Please include division and time of call if possible and if you know if the whole division passed.

My Daughter called me at 3:34 pm central time on Wed. May 25th. She is in division 187 and stated all passed in her division. We talked for 20 mins.

Comment by Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor on April 14, 2011 at 8:37pm: Ooops, just had another thought. I noticed that some of you have your SR in your profile pictures. We have found that it's probably not a good idea to have a recent picture of them on the site. The RDC's have been known to read the groups and I'm sure that you wouldn't want your SR to be singled out or harassed by something that the RDC may have seen on here. It's just a precaution, just like not using their names on here.

A lot of the parents in our PIR group posted baby (or toddler) pictures of their SR's and it was fun to see how cute everyone was as babies.

I am actually one of our veteran moms as well and am here to offer help and support to you all, like Janlee, Lala, Dianne and JessciaB. It just takes me a little longer to catch up with the newer PIR groups. My son graduated from BC in December and is now in Pensacola, FL.
I did read back a few pages that you were wondering what the beeping was on the page. There is a live Chat down in the right corner and that beeping would be people posting on that.
I did also want to mention one thing that I had not seen on here and thought I would pass on the information If you had your SR on your car insurance, you may want to call your insurance company and have it suspended while they are in BC. We did that with my son and it saved us over $300 while he was away.

We are all here happy to answer any questions you have or if you just need a group to lean on from people who understand what your going through!!

Got home and as I watched my younger son run to the mailbox to see if our "letter" was there...I waited with baited breathe...YES we got the official letter! It was mailed on April 11th and we got it today 14th, not a bad turnaround!! So now I can make travel arrangements, since confirmed for PIR 6/3!!! I even got a short message at the bottom!
Letter and the Security call all in one day.....Smiling from ear to ear!!
