mmiles:  They TREASURE mail there...no matter what is said in it!  I know many who said their SRs said they wouldn't write before they left...well guess what?  They all wrote!  Because as my son told me when there:  Mom, you are my connection with the outside world!  He was one who I didn't think would write (he is a talker so phone calls work for him!).  Well, he wrote...about 4-5 letters....HUGE for him.  So never be concerned that what you send is useless...to him, every word you write will be GOLDEN!  You may have already done this, but we suggest that you all print pictures on paper (collage-style) so you can send alot at once.  They have very limited space to keep things in there.  Many N4M ladies will send a larger envelope so that their SRs can mail home their letters from you all and others to keep here.  My son just threw all of his away....sigh....

For those of you asking:  You can send a message to the whole group by way of the prompt at the top of this page:  "Send Message to Group.'  But to send individual messages, you must be "friends" with the person.

GailMindy:  Those of us who have sailors in the Navy already know the Navy motto:  HURRY UP AND.....WAIT!  So that is what you are being trained for during bc!

LOL  Kayla, I thought the same thing!! I have sent two letters to my son and each one contained about 3 days worth of "journaling" style of writing!!  I know when he gets them he will say the same thing "yup that's my mom"  I felt like alot of what I wrote was just useless info my I have a strong feeling and from what I have read they will LOVE every minute of knowing we are still the same onld mom's back home!!  I even added pictures to the letters so he can see what we did that day.  For his little brother and sister we printed out pictures and they wrote him letters around the pictures!  I huge on taking pictures no matter what we do, so I usually have plenty around I can send!!

ok so I just wrote my first letter to my daughter, wow I feel like such a rambling mother. (LOL) but I feel so much better knowing that within a couple of weeks she will be reading it and laughing at me, thinking wow mom never changes....

I dont know if any of you have checked it out yet, but on facebook there is a page for "U.S. Navy Recruit Training Center" where they post information, answer questions and post pictures.....yes I said post pictures! I of course dont expect to see my RC in any pictures, but if he is then jsut icing on the cake. I like to see pics of what it happening at the RTC with any of the RC's!
